Description

Hey pcpp, I'm back again for my third build! Since my first build I've graduated from dental school and can spend without feeling guilty using my parent's money haha

FireRed V1 had trouble keeping up with modern games. My cousin recently introduced me to Apex, but my pc was not performing as well as I wanted. Combined with the fact that I wanted to downsize to a mini ITX build and upgrade to 144hz gaming, I decided to sell my first build to a facebook marketplace buyer and start a new build from scratch.

I wanted this new pc to handle modern games like metro, apex and start monster hunter world with my cousin. I was all set to play with him but sadly he passed away in a hit and run before we could start playing together. It took some time before I could enjoy playing games without him and even post this build but here we are now.

Most of my part choices could be swapped with better performance/price ratio; however I also rank aesthetics highly. Overall very happy with how the build looks and performs. This build should last until I wanna upgrade to 1440p 27in gaming or maybe I'll dive into ultrawide who knows, I'm happy with my current dual monitor setup.

Thanks for stopping by!

PS Newegg shipping sux balls and buildapcsales combined with citi cc price rewind are great money savers.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great CPU for gaming, pretty easy to overclock to 4.1 at 1.25 but was not comfortable with my current cooling to maintain.

CPU Cooler

Great aesthetics but sub-par cooling + loud rattling noise due to trapped air bubbles; will not overclock cpu with this cooler

Motherboard

Easy navigation and bios controls. Great aesthetics.

Memory

Had to change voltage to 1.35 in bios before ram could work properly but best aesthetics in my opinion compared to other rgb ram.

Storage

The king of budget m.2 ssd, very nice not to have to worry about sata cables.

Video Card

Bought off hardwareswap, easy to overclock

Case

Decided to plastidip plastic base, PSU is terrible, had loud rattling noise, but the aesthetics is great and form factor is awesome.

Power Supply

Super quiet under load, fully modular, very nice sleeved cables, replacing A1 PSU removes qi charging support but allows more cable space

Monitor

With the latest drivers, g-sync capable to hit 144

Keyboard

Had to get o-rings to cushion sounds as the blue switches knock-off were very loud, but afterwards, very clicky and satisfying to type on.

Mouse

Old mouse didn't have enough buttons for me, this one has 7 programmable ones!

Headphones

Wireless freedom! Battery lasts a heck long time and comfortable, however friends have commented how the mic sounds muffled when voice chat.

Great looking build! Cable management is pretty impressive given the form factor, I'll be building a mATX for my next build. Was a little confused by the orientation of the front side fan, should give better thermals and cool the GPU better if you were to switch it around, seems like the airflow would be fighting itself with the current orientation.

Yes a slight difference, but not night and day like going from 60 to 144 lol

I heard about this monitor flickering when you enable g-sync on it, any experience with that?

Sorry for your loss. Beautiful setup though. Everything matches and the pc looks gorgeous. Fun to see another Aggie on here.

This is just a pleasing build to look at. Great job on the red/black color scheme! Sorry to hear about your cousin. Hope he's playing Crysis at 4k 240 FPS.
