Description

This is my very first PC build ever. With the help of my friend I was able to get everything up and running within a day. I had literally zero clue on how to assemble a PC before this so I was nervous about breaking a pin or ripping a wire. For this build I wanted a retro/80s style theme while still focusing on performance. I was originally going to use an NZXT elite case but got a fractal design instead because I liked the looks of the case and the airflow was better.

The hardest part about this build was figuring out where each cable went on the motherboard. This was especially true with my fans since they had a 4 pin hub connector but my motherboard only has a 5 pin rgbw slot (turns out you literally just plug it into the first 4 pins). My bottom intake fan also did not fit since the kraken radiator was too big but I managed to make it work with 2 screws without it looking so bad.

Overall I'm very happy with my build, the jump from 60hz to 144hz also blew my mind. Honestly my last computer couldn't even run games from years ago above 25 fps on low settings so this computer has definitely done a good job!

Love the 80s style, beautiful build dude! Well thought out parts too. Couple questions though, what fans are those and how does the built in WiFi work on that motherboard?

Great build and love those fans too! Makes a change seeing something other than NZXT or Corsair RGB ones :)

Yeah I was originally gonna go with nzxt fans but the rings on the enermax fans looked cooler and more unique in my opinion.

How is that nzxt x42 performing on ryzen 2700x ? It is much better vs stock prism cooler ? Can u share your temps in idle and load ,also if u use xfr or manual OC? Thank you +1 for the build !

This is one of the better first PC builds I've seen. The parts compliment eachother well, and the aesthetics are tasteful. I really like the neon/glitch-wave theme you picked and that desktop background is awesome. I would actually like a link to that if possible. Great build!

Can you confirm that the Enermax RGB fans work with the motherboard software? I want to use them with aura sync but can’t find a definitive answer.

I was able to download the rgb fusion software and somewhat sync the fans to the rest of my build but I found it much easier to just set the fans to a colour through the remote that the fans came with. I definitely think it is possible but the software was honestly kind of buggy so I prefered the remote control.

Does that monitor have good ghosting-elimination? Also is it really quantum dot?

Did you notice the 5ms response time making any difference? I’m trying to decide between this and the Samsung CFG70/73.

Does the wristrest bother you?

  • 1 point

Depends, honestly it doesn't bother me much but the latch they make to secure it to the keyboard could have been better because it usually comes off pretty easily.

Is the monitor quantum dot? How is the response time? (Please respond)

I have to admit, this pc setup/build is better than my soon to get setup for around $3000 setup as an 11 year old. And what also is funny is that you created this account on my birth day!
