Description

I build this cake back in september before my birthday :) I worked two months at a camping and saved 3000$ that I used to buy every ingredients online. I then mixed and baked everything myself, it was the first time that i cooked such a thing. It was Definitely a great experience and I'll surely do it again.

About the ingredients:

-Intel Core i7-6700k : Awesome little piece of hardware that let me play games while listening to music and surfing the internet and videochating at the same time without lagging.

-Noctua Products : They are ok but honestly I only bought them cause I find them pretty good looking.

-Asus Z170 MARK 1 : Overpriced mobo but it was matching my build and I didn't found too much bad reviews about it so I bought it. Its armor make it pretty solid and epic, only complain is that Asus sent two 40mm fans instead of one 40mm and one 35mm.

-Ram : Basic ram, nothing special, overclocked to 2400mhz.

-Seagate Barracuda : Came dead on arrival and I coudn't return it because I waited for too long to send it back. I saw a lot of reviews about DOA HDDs. This year my birthday present was a new HDD so it's ok but it was not really cool to found out it was dead.

-Zotac GTX 1070 AMP! Edition : This thing maxed out all of my games and I like the yellow lines on it. :) I found that it has coil whine when I get above 600fps in Halo CE. :(

-Thermal Compound : This thing works (nothing else to say)

-EVGA 750W 80+ Gold SM ATX : It delivers power to my cake so that I can enjoy every bite.(works normally)

-Peripherals : Nothing bad to say about any of my peripherals but the screen(light bleeding) and it don't even bother me so evything works fine.

-Windows 10 : It's ok but I prefer Windows 7.

-NZXT S340 Razer Edition : I wanted a NZXT S340 case and I choose this one because it is matt black. (I'm in love with this sexy box)

-Overall : Suits my needs, so sexy, powerfull, futureproof.

Don't hesitate to comment or criticize :)

(Sorry for the horrible quality of the pictures, I used the phone of my sister since I don't own a camera) (Also sorry for the mistakes. English is not my primary language, I'm from Quebec)

0.o

Beauty is in the eye of beholder. No ****.

Otherwise, good selection of parts. Except i would expand storage options, like ssd.

I ordered a Samsung 850 EVO ssd but my order got canceled. :( So I decided to save the money of the refund to buy games this black friday on steam.

Wait, someone likes the look of Noctua products? I bet this is a first in the history of ever...

It's a great cake, seems delicious. Well, if you spent so much on it it better be delicious.

There was a build that might have been a feature with loads of Noctua things in it but in that one they actually fit, while here something black or green would suite better

First time I have heard this, most people ignore their aesthetics because of their performance lol. Nice build though :P

Great build

How is the monitor, is the screen quality bad or bad colours?

The monitor is great, I really prefer this size ratio over 16:9 (awesome for games that support it), the color is great too. Like I said the only thing is the light bleeding and I know a lot of people have this issue. I was also surprised buy the quality of the stand (solid metal base cover in plastic). Overall really good monitor. :)

Thank you. Great to hear And I assume 75hz is a nice feature too?

  • 1 point

It is actually 60hz. I overclocked it to 75hz and there were red dots appearing on the screen. I don't know if it was because of the overclock but it came back to normal when I set it back to 60hz. I coudn't set it above 75hz because it was not stable. Not a good overclocker.

I'm also super-keen to get one, and the LG website seems to imply two 7W speakers. http://www.lg.com/uk/monitors/lg-29UC88-B

Wow, that's the first time I heard that usually the opposite! :P

How's the monitor? I'm a sucker for big monitors and was thinking about going for this one. How's the size, is it good for gaming?

Love your setup!

Cheers
