Description
This is my first build ever. I use it for photo and video editing, but mainly for gaming. A long time ago I used to play FPS like Quake and CS 1.6. Overwatch, Doom and PUBG got me back in...
The rig sits in the middle of my living room, so I wanted something quiet and clean. I went for the new NZXT H500i. A nice upgrade over the S340. Cleaner looking, outside and inside.
By watching a lot of YouTube and PcPartPicker builds I figured out what I wanted to do. 8700K and 1080 Ti Hybrid and Kraken X62. I changed the radiator fans to Be Quiet Silent Wings 3. 2x 140mm for the Kraken, 1x 120mm for the 1080 Ti. Under full load the rig produces about 30dB.
I went overkill on the HX1000i PSU, because it has fanless mode up to 400W. Cables are from Cablemod.
My wireless router is on the other side of the room and I don't want to run a cable. With the TP-Link Archer I get around 320Mbps over WiFi. Very solid.
The idea of an ultrawide monitor also drew me back to PC gaming. I use an Alienware AW3418DW on a Dataflex Viewlite stand. The stand has an open back for cable routing. The desk is a vintage Galvanitas table. All wires are routed on the left back leg.
There are a few things I want to adjust. The motherboard only has two USB headers. Add an internal USB hub, so I can use the PSU's iLink. Get black cablecombs. Perhaps change the Silent Wing 3 on the GPU radiator for something that will spin on lower RPMs.
EDIT: Thank you all for the positive feedback! I was a little bit intimidated starting the building process. So all comments & points make the final result extra sweet. Thank you all!
