Description

(Please note that anything that is set to $0 came from my HP Compaq 8100. Please also note all prices are after rebates, taxes, and shipping. They are also rounded to the nearest dollar.) I decided to take some parts from my HP Compaq 8100 and add in a pretty bomb gpu. I would say it turned out okay since I only use the system for gaming. Sorry for the cable management (this is my first build ,so I am not really experienced.)

Part Reviews

CPU

Still does a fine job in gaming.

CPU Cooler

5 degrees cooler than stock plus it came with thermal paste. Serves my needs well.

Motherboard

Works fine and it comes with 4 ram slots.

Storage

Its a hard drive.... What more can I say?

Video Card

Great graphics card for 1080p high settings.

Case

It is really cramped ,but it came with 2 blue led fans which is nice.

Power Supply

Wish I had gone modular ,but for what it is it gets the job done.

Wireless Network Adapter

Internet is quite slow on this especially when people are also using wifi.

i think you need to do some cable management...... clean up your spaghetti

no real possible way to cable manage since the case is small. I would also probably have to redo every single cable and even then the difference would be minimal.

There is always a way to do some kind of cable management. Maybe not like "omg thats amazing!" but that looks like zfg right there. Bundle them up with like 3 zip ties and but them in the 3.5" bay . I do like how you re-used parts and how cheap it was done.

Clean up those cables and you should get a +1 from me

it is not affecting performance and since my case does not have a completely clear side panel I will probably leave them as is since I would literally have to unplug everything and start from scratch. On my next build I will make sure to think ahead of time about managing cables and hopefully I will have a better case and psu for it.

I know about the cable management but would there be a slight bottleneck when you pair an i7 820 with an rx 470? IDK

From what I have seen no. Maybe a slight bottleneck on cpu intensive games ,but games like The Witcher 3 for example have no bottleneck and run great with this combo.

I was thinking the same thing.

For $250 you couldn't have done a better job. Cable management doesn't block as much airflow as you would think so I'd say you're fine. That i7 can definitely hold it's own still.

Enjoy your build, man!

temps are actual quite nice surprisingly. None of the cables are in the way of the fans (except for the front one ,but it still has enough space)
