Being an old Computer assembler and Former Auditor for Dell I had some "Friends at AMD" I was more than happy to have been able to see the Ryzen roll out and watch the comparisons and more. Sadly. since I have no U-tube or Web site promoting builds and that well I am considered a Senior citizen these days. I had to wait for the Release day. When it happened I was ready and waited a week or so to see what the fall out was and of course what would work for a Cooling unit for the Ryxen processor. I had heard some good things about NZXT water coolers and hearing the announcement they had AM4 brackets available I went and ordered my parts.
Now I had been gathering some parts over the past months before. Watching sales and picking my parts. Like the hard drives and the Cooler Master Storm Stryker case that I got for 70 dollars off. having finally decided to go for the build I did more shopping and ordered my parts.
When the all arrived I gathered them all up and my case and went into my new build area (Shed) and set it all out for a picture. Then I tried to contact NZXT about the AM4 bracket. Well their website was pretty messed up and to be frank totally busted (Still Is) So I started trying to call the help number... It took over a week to get someone only to be told to Send them an Email showing my purchase and where for my Request for the AM4 bracket. I did so and three weeks went by. Despite the assurances they would have it by the end of the month I had received no conformation of my Sent proof or that I was getting the bracket.
It actually took my Review on New egg that got attention and the E-mail that they would be sending it the next day overnight shipping. Well a good week later it actually arrived. All I can say is that NZXT had horrible customer service and a Broken web site. I doubt I will purchase another Cooler unit from them.
I had assembled the system without the Processor and the Memory and has been waiting for the bracket. I was happy when I received it but again disappointed in the fact that it came with Zero instructions. Leaving me to figure out how to do what. Putting in the new very strange MB mounts I mounted the Cooler base and well It took a few Clocking changes to get it where I needed. Then I turned down the thumb screws supplied and "SNAP" One broke right off. I let out a world of nice words that could melt steel and then logged in and again tried to get my account to work for NZXT and nothing worked. At least this time I had the E-mail from the Rep that contacted me before and I got nothing back but an automated "We are swamped" reply.
Well it took me a good day to cool down and I thought about the broken stud and it was certain the pressure needed would not be good without it. so I pulled off the Cooler base to the processor and looked at the coverage from the first tightening and it really did not look that great. I sat and thought about the issue and then took one of the other AMD bracket studs and checked to see if it threaded in and then drove to my Local ACE Hardware store and picked up several nice Stainless screws of that length and several washers. returning I remounted the Cooler processer base and then ran down the three thumb screws. Then taking the nice Screw I carefully threaded it in the back plate through the bracket and snugged it up. Yep fixed and well if I needed to I can tighten it more but for now it seems to be working fine.
Fired right up and well I can not swear enough about Microsofts Winblows 10 Pro. I wounder who the ??? decided to put some plastic like stuff over the scratch off over the codes? I am so lucky that I did not tear off the code but it was so hard to read I needed a 20x magnifier to see them. you would think that Microsoft had smart people? I begin to wonder....
