Description

I decided to build a computer as it has been 8 years since I've built one. I'm coming from an i7-950, Asus Sabertooth x58, and a ASUS GTX 660. Technically this is my first time building a pc all by myself. Last time a friend of mine did all the work in exchange for some beers. I really only play WoW, Overwatch, and Battlefield. Most of my friends are still on console in our Madden league so I haven't checked out too many games on this pc yet. Kinda went overkill in regards to using this for WoW, but for BF I love it. I'll convert to PC for most games though.

I attempted to buy everything at my local Micro Center, but their price matching is up to the manager on duty. Micro Center pretty much said that they couldn't offer a price match on most of the parts I tried to buy at the beginning of my build so I didn't bother after the first two times. The only thing I did purchase from them was the EVGA psu. Everything else was off of Amazon, Newegg, and Corsair. The next thing I'll upgrade will be the monitors. I've had them for a few years now.

GF got me the RTX 2060 as a thank you gift for her Coachella ticket. She knew I was in the market for a new GPU. She asked her gamer brother for some ideas and he said the 2070/2080 which was out of her budget and got the 2060. It's perfect for the set of games I play. Plus, she knows if i'm home playing computer games then i'm not going out and getting into trouble. haha. What makes her the best is when she calls and I tell her i'm in the middle of playing a game and she's just like, "ok call me later when you're done." I was SHOOK the first time she said that when we first started dating.

Originally had a Dark Rock Pro 4 cooler and some non-rgb ram sticks. I liked them, but didn't LOVE them. Then when I saw Corsair was coming out with the H100i RGB Platinum SE cooler to match the white Vengeance RGB pro I had to swap them out. My Amazon return window was still good on them so I was stoked.

The Batman Badge is from v1tech. It's really their GPU backplate. They messed up the sizing and it's way too big for my GPU. Kinda disappointed the sizing was so bad. Going to send them an email and see what they can do. Stuck it on the side of my case when using the static white light for now. It's starting to grow on me a little bit.

The ALL white PSU cables I got off eBay from a seller in the UK. They look better than the white with black tips.

Cable management was my least favorite part by far.

Sorry to hear your local MC sucks :/ should've been a much more exciting day in the store for ya!

I really love those white fans, it's a shame they didn't have them this time last year.

Yea, when I saw that they price matched I didn't read the fine print. That was a bummer.

The white fans are awesome. I love it.

Cable management the least favorite part? Why? Looks immaculate

It’s the backside of the mobo that gave me the problem. It’s why I didn’t bother taking a photo of it.

Nice build and really digging that AIO, never seen one look that clean. As for your woman, sounds like a good one. Anyway, excellent build.

You are lucky. Imagine this. The day I built my first PC I went to a party and as a result I had myself stuck into relationships the next day. She * hates when I play games. Know I have to cut on my sleep time to play some games and keep my shape in dota.

Yea I know the struggle. I used to have to wake up early or stay up late to game while my ex would sleep.

Thanks. I was going to go red/black at first, but didn’t want dust to show as much over time.

Also red/black is harder to match with a modern desk and looks like you are screaming gamer.

Wait why does a red and black theme make dust more noticeable?

build looks awesome! the only thing I think kinda sucks is that the fans on the H100i have to be backwards in order to pull in air from the outside, kinda defeats the purpose of the fancy RBG rings and such.

Tbh, I'm having the same dilemma. I want the awesome white cooler with the rgb fans, but I want to display them facing inside the case (like your top and back fans).

My idea is to get the H100i and use the fans on the top and back and replace the cooler fans with something else, maybe not RGB... decisions, decisions...

Yea I was thinking that too, but my OCD wanted them to all match. Plus if you put them in front of the radiator pushing air through you’ll see the black and that would’ve bothered me as well. I bought the extra three pack of fans since it came with the lightning node to control all the fan colors. I had one extra fan leftover that I turned around and sold to a friend who wanted it.

Im building in the same case, does the radiator work well? because ive heard the front fans are choked.

I think so. My idle temp is around 24-28c. I have yet to go over 40c when gaming. That may be due to the colder weather.

If you want to sync your Blackwidow X and your mousepad check out Aurora. It syncs compatible RGB devices together and lets you use games that support Razer Chroma SDK with non-Razer devices.

I've been looking to purchase this exact card for a minute now and I can't find it for sale anywhere? Do you know where she bought it? I want the Founders Edition specifically because it just would make my build look 10x cleaner.

She purchased it off of Nvidia's website. If it's not there maybe they're out of stock on it.

Hey I'm just wondering if the front radiator placement makes any difference thermal wise...ie. on Nzxt's case installation video they recommend having the radiator showing in the case, as opposed to the fans. Is there any large difference in thermals if the fans aren't showing vs having them showing? (obviously looks way better how you have it set up)

  • 2 points

For me there wasn’t any temperature issues the way I have it setup. When I play BF V for a few hours the CPU hovers around 43-50c the whole time.

  • 1 point

What was your GPU temps on BFV? Also are you using the front as intake and rear/top and exhaust?

  • 1 point

GPU is around 70 Celcius on ultra settings. Yes i'm using front as intake and rear/top as exhaust.
