Description

Well its kinda a new computer to me again, but it kinda isnt. This is a slightly upgraded version to the other build I have on here. There are a few more upgrades i plan on doing to this build, which includes a few more case fans, maybe some led strips and upgrading the cpu to either an i5 or i7 variant of this socket. The biggest upgrade to this machine so far is the new gtx 1070 that is a major improvement over the 950 i had previously in here. The graphics for this card even paired with this i3(yes i know sad face i3) are beyond astounding.

And yes i know the power supply doesnt leave room for any over clocking, but i plan on upgrading that to a 1000w unit hopefully by the end of January. As for not having an ssd in the build, at the time of actually building this machine i didnt have the need for one. Now that im actually upgrading the machine to be more on par for games, I am going to be buying one to put in here just for the operating system.

I havnt done any benchmarking on the computer yet as im just to lazy to actually just benchmark it but i plan on doing that on my next day off from work.

Also sorry for not using proper english as im sick and to tired to brain. Also photos will be uploaded when i can find all of them

Update:more photos have been uploaded with the new EVGA Supernova 750 gold+ psu installed with before and after pictures. Now I am just waiting on my custom back plate for the gpu.

Also my pitbull decided she wanted to help dad.

Part Reviews

CPU

it works for what games i do play. do i wish i had a more powerful cpu, yes. but for the time being it does its job well

CPU Cooler

this thing is huge and if not for the side panel on my computer having that tapering out on it this thing would definitely not fit. but on the plus sde my cpu is nice and cool

Motherboard

its an awesome board and has the ability to do overclocking which i like.

Memory

at the time of purchase it was cheap and it does work well just need a second stick of ram :D

Storage

its storage and it holds my OS for the time being until i get an ssd

Video Card

downside is no backplate but im planning on buying a custom backplate for it. otherwise its an exceptional card for me and does give me that added boost of better graphics.

Case

its not the easiest for cable management but i liked the design and looks pretty bad***. has plenty of room for upgrades and has a nice little side window to stare at all the precious.

Power Supply

Again its a psu. But this one to me is significantly better with it being fully modular over the non modular 500w corsair psu. The cable management is alot better now that i dont have a rats nest in the bottom of the tower like before. Also this gives me the ability to actually overclock my gpu and a cpu that will be added to this build early next year.

Nice system! Interesting that your GPU doesn't have a backplate. I went from a 970 to a 1070, which was pretty big. I can't imagine going from a 950 to a 1070! I'm trying to talk my brother into a 1070 (he currently has a 960) so maybe I'll use this as an example. All-in-all pretty awesome though!

You're completely fine with a 500w power supply, just make sure it's of high quality. 1000w Is just complete overkill for a 1070.

i know just wanted to have that extra there so the power supply isn't working as hard as the 500W. also the power supply is sadly just a bronze rating since at the time of building the computer i only had the 950 in here

You do know that your i3 is extremely likely to be bottlenecking your 1070 right? Just a suggestion to get an i5 6500 or higher as they do not bottleneck. Otherwise great build.+1!

i know that it does at times but for what i have been mostly sticking to game wise it hasn't been to much of an issue. but with me finally being able to afford games again i was planning on upgrading the cpu anyway just now i'm actually able to

I agree with joshzpants about the 1000 Watt being overkill, a really good 750 Watt unit will be more than enough even for SLI 1070's and still have overclock headroom...

Try for something like THIS

An interesting pairing with an i3 and a 1070 but its understandable since you came from a more "Budget" build :)

Really like what your doing, keep up the good work +1

(some internal piks would be nice though)

internals are comming with fresh pics for them as i just ordered a 750w power supply and i can actually get the cables looking better then how i had to shove them in now

Yeah cable management takes about as long as putting the whole damn thing together, but its worth it in the end (especially if you have a windowed case)
