Description

This is a work in progress from which I upgraded from a A8-3870k to a HD 7750 video card then to a Fx-6300. The goal is to be able to play BF3, BF4 at high frame rates on high settings.

I have reused as much as I can from one build to the next to keep prices down and reasonable.

I have used MSI program to OC the CPU to a stable 4.0 with all cores un-parked in windows 7. Where I live it gets very hot in the summer so airflow is a must for the system to remain in optimize settings under acceptable temps.

I have positive pressure with 1 200mm intake fan, 2 120mm intake fans and 1 200mm exhaust fan. I added 1 40mm fan to the northbridge to help keep it cool.

I installed a Kingston SSD which vastly improved performance along with my WD 500 gb HHD and WD 1 TB HHD for storage and back up.

Due to the fast process of CPU's and GPU's it is getting hard to keep up and have a system that is current. I had planed to crossfire the HD 7870 ghz ed. video cards but after some research found out that it is not worth the expense for what performance you get in return due to the advance of GPU's on the market.

Future upgrade will either be a intel CPU 3570k/4670k or a GPU, the intel MOBO combo is $350 so that is hard to justify for a mid level gaming PC.

Solid AMD build! It should do fine on BF4. I would save up for a better gpu later on.

Plan on getting a R9 270x to crossfire with, but will need a higher watt PSU.

I've been looking at a build for a friend in this price range 500-700$ and I keep getting stuck up on the AM3+. To me it looks like a dead socket. Other than that I really like the build, it appears to have a nice balance and performance for the price tag. Be wary of that PSU though.

The PSU runs great with no problems have had it for almost a year now, enermax makes them and the oem is Channelwell, it is a tier 3 PSU. The AM3 is not a dead socket it was published that AMD was focusing this year on the APU side of the market since that is what the game consoles will use and notepads and laptops. Thank you for your comments.

Just curious, can I see the source for PSU Tiers?

That's talking about LEPAs G series, you have an N series. N for No efficiency.

AM3+ May not be dead, more Fx series parts are confirmed so it may be continued.

I have the same processor and cooler. What has your experience been with overclocking to 4.0? What are your idle and high load temps?

I have had no problems what so ever and my temps have only gone up a couple of degrees over stock, but my case has 2 200mm fans and 2 120mm fans plus a 40mm fan for the northbridge. Best thing I did was to unpark my cores in windows.
