Description

EDIT 1: Thanks for the feature! I've lurked around the site for a few years now, quietly appreciating all the amazing builds everyone was posting. So glad to finally contribute to the community!

EDIT 2: As some of you requested, I've added a few pictures of the cable JUNGLE in the back - enjoy...

EDIT 3: FINALLY got the second M.2 drive in the mail! Build is now 100% complete, with a small extra on the way soon...

First I wanna thank not only the folks that made this site, but everyone that uses it and makes me comfortable knowing I'm not the only nerd that loves computers. Now for the story!

I've tinkered with computers for a few years now, starting out with an AMD FX-4350 and an R9 290X, happy just to be able to run Minecraft at 60 FPS on my $100 monitor. I continued adding and replacing parts until I was left with the end result earlier this year, a 7700K and a 1080. Back in February, however, I was facing some financial struggles and had to sell the love of my life, my gaming PC. I instantly made plans to build my next computer, entirely from scratch. This was to be a no holding back, balls to the wall, insane powerhouse of a gaming PC, and I had to make my first attempt at a custom hardline loop. I worked two jobs EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. for five months straight to hoard as much money as I could, buying parts in batches as sales came and went, all in preparation for the release of RTX 2080Ti, because what's a gaming PC without stupidly overkill components? Missed out on a lot of friends' events and whatnot, but hey, there was a means to my madness!

Well, that changed on Monday when Huang spent a good two hours talking about ray tracing and avoiding the fact that their newest flagship card was going to run me $1,364 after tax and shipping, while also avoiding showing how much better the 2080Ti performs than the 1080Ti. I gave it some thought, and after initially jumping on the hype train, I canceled my preorder in severe disappointment. Bought a Strix 1080Ti OC for $550 the next morning, and with the remaining $800, I was able to buy my monitor and the waterblock for the graphics card, bringing the build as a whole to a finish - almost. I have yet to receive the 1TB 970 Evo in the mail, but as soon as it comes in, I will update the post!

I wanted to take pictures of the build progress, but seeing as I was putting this together as parts came in over the course of the last three months, that'd have been a little too difficult. I also have yet to stress test it for thermals and performance monitoring, but I will update the post as those come along too - was up until 4:30 this morning trying to get to a stable overclock while also making sure the fans aren't blowing up. For some reason, they were running way too loud with the default curve profiles. And while we're on the topic of these fans, yes I got 12 fans, yes I got more than I needed purely for the RGB (I mean, who doesn't?) and yes I spent $400 on air cooling for a water loop. Let's not talk about the absolute jungle of cables in the back...

And before any of the keyboard warriors break out their spreadsheets on how I could have gotten a better performance-per-dollar ratio and whatnot, just know that I KNOW I don't need 32GB of RAM for gaming, I KNOW the 8086K is just a binned 8700K, I KNOW I don't need HD 700s for gaming, I KNOW. Shhhhh, just look at the pretty lights :) I worked for this knowing exactly what I wanted, regardless of how stupid or overkill or unnecessary it was going to end up being. Thank you!

Anyways, after months of preparation and days of actually working on this thing, I'm proud to present Patience. Enjoy the pics, and thanks for checking out the build :)

Slow Clap +1 Nicely done dixonerfais, you pulled ahead and made a build that got me commending people's masterpieces once again, so kudos to you. Now, forget about myself, let's talk about the build. The Cpu, Gpu, Ram, Psu, Case, Storage, Rog Monitor, Headset, and completely, crystal-clear Water-cooled Loop are perfect pieces of hardware that I couldn't have pulled together better myself. Your loop is pristine with the entirety of it going back an forth through the overkill 1080Ti, all the way inside of your mobo (which is crazy on its own let alone every other aspect of the computer), and through that beautiful 5.2 GHz Cpu. The 8086k is the perfect chip for any enthusiast builder, and let me tell you: you are an enthusiast builder. The fact that you threw in a whopping 12 Corsair LL 120mm RGB fans is another show-stopper on its own, too. The build wouldn't be the same without the stark Lian-Li tower. The way the components come together in a perfectly orchestrated harmony is stellar! What else is there to say! Just absolutely beautiful. Well done, bravo!

Happy Building, OfficialP90

Lol, one of the best descriptions ive ever read.

Great build, the clear coolant makes it shiny!

+1

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the read :)

MisterFluffer 3 points 5 months ago

Awesome build! I'm currently at the part where I'm grinding at the job. XD I plan on getting a MUCH cheaper pc tho. Either way, good luck with your absolute monster of a machine and happy gaming my man!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 3 points 5 months ago

Thank you! Good luck on your endeavors!

Jule5Builds 3 points 5 months ago
  1. Build and description are 10/10. I can definitely relate. Overkill for that sexy end-product>> every time.
  2. What desk is that?
enricko7 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

I too would like to know what he did for the desk. Looks like a tabletop sitting on file cabinets, but specifics would be nice.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thank you! The desk is actually all IKEA parts, a 96" kitchen countertop and two white Alex drawers, along with a custom cut modesty panel and some other small behind-the-scenes support beam stuff. I'd recommend building your own desk, this was both significantly cheaper (total ran me a little under $400) and better looking than any 8' desks I could find, and the best part is it's all modular!

SofusCx 1 point 5 months ago

Shouldn't you add an extra leg in the middle (or maybe wall-mount the monitors) so the countertop doesn't bend over time? Just thought of it since 3 monitors can put on some weight.

Also, how's the depth working out for you? Do you rest your arms on the desk? From what i've seen it looks kinda cramped.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Aha, but that's where the magic comes into play! I've drilled a steel L-beam, a wooden support beam, and a cable organizer tray to the underside of the table supporting the middle. I did have a leg in the middle in the past, but for the sake of having more leg clearance and a cleaner overall look, I replaced that leg with this reinforced 'modesty panel' of sorts, an idea I got from WorkofHart's Atlas Evolv'd X99 build. No table sag AND no leg in the way underneath the table!

As for the depth, I have plenty of space - I've always preferred to use the armrests on my chair, so this works out perfectly :)

JBeadle1875 3 points 5 months ago

That is a thing of beauty <3

Simulint 4 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Instant favorite.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Thanks man!

ScriptingUnion 2 points 5 months ago

Great color scheme, nice tubing liquid idea! 10/10 Aesthetically pleasing.

I would have recommended doing 2x16 ram then 4x8. (For upgrading purposes) but I understand full-RAM slots is a lot more sexy ;)

...and the build is beautifully overkill! +1

(Also your cable seem familiar but I don't know its inspiration.)

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

I would have done 4x16 for even further overkill, but just as I couldn't possibly justify spending $1300 on a single graphics card, I couldn't bring myself to spend around $800 on RAM haha. I do agree though! If I had a LITTLE more money, 4x16 would have been even better!

And yes, of course all 4 RAM slots need to be filled if we're going for the most aesthetically satisfying build here ;) Thanks for the input!

P.S. I got my cabling scheme idea from u/XXRAYZOR's absolutely gorgeous build, his Sad Machine

chadreitsma 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

She's a beauty!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks man!

Dnehiba3 2 points 5 months ago

WOW, just ...WOW

feteabc 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Wow! Really nice build. Like an art.

pirao 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Wow....I just finished building (most of) my first PC so I'm pretty inexperienced, and I was pretty impressed with the aesthetics of my build so far even without playing with it too much...but this is truly something else. I've never seen a cleaner looking build. It's so precise in every way, and I really love the color scheme. This is the type of PC I'd love to build some day in the future: absolutely overkill for no reason!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Keep tinkering, you'll get there! I appreciate the kind words :)

MrUhOh 2 points 5 months ago

Dude, your build is amazing. That's the kind of rig I wanted but I'm very new to PC building (like, I've never even attempted anything besides switching out my ram kind of new). So I ended up going to a micro center and have them building me the best rig I was able to put together there. Unfortunately, they don't touch custom water cooling.

I'm drooling here and very envious. Great work.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks! I appreciate your input, man. Give it some time, you'll be building crazy stuff!

MightyAlFred 3 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

As long as you know what your are getting is overkill, and you want it anyway, it's all good.

The build itself is really stunning, with the hard tubing and the rgb, well done.

NewVoid 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Okay... Now I've seen this I'm going to buy another set of RGB RAM sticks and a RGB power connector. Man this is cool.

trylaarsdam 3 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

so going to be a feature

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Wouldn't that be something!

Jhull13 2 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Hi um I would like this exact same build for around $5000 less than it’s worth, and just as beautifully put together as this. Thank you!! But really in all seriousness this is a beautiful build, and when I build my computer, I was looking to do the exact same pink and teal color scheme as you did! Just of course without the same specs cuz I’m on a budget :) +1!!!!!!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

I love this color scheme - pretty, but not too much, ya know?

Jhull13 2 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Yes I agree. I just can’t wait until I have enough money saved up to build mine. It won’t have as much RGB, but what I do have I want to make the same colors. Absolutely love to look at this build

HellRaizrRod 2 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

I love it dude. So much sex appeal. Good call on the clear fluid, definitely underrated imo. Looks almost mirror like snaking around under 12 rgb fans lol.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks! I bought some clear UV blue dye as well, but not sure if I'll end up using it - I'll stick with clear for now :)

bmccarthy8989 10 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

So glad to hear you got your dream build! And I wouldn't worry about the 2080. Your decision in the 1080ti is SOLID. These next cards will most likely be marginally better anyways. Sold build, sold mods, solid builder. Bravo.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks for the positive feedback! Glad someone else feels the same about the 20 series.

bmccarthy8989 10 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Oh don't worry, I don't think we're alone haha.

toetoejam 2 points 5 months ago

Amazing build!

iKoniKModz 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

You had my +1 @ the 1st pic. However after seeing all the pics and reading the story I wish I could +20 GREAT BUILD! This actually inspires me to completely revamp my system.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Thanks haha! Never stop tinkering, PCMR for life!

Chew1998 3 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

All I can say is magnificent!

TweaknFreak 2 points 5 months ago

Love the build. Way too awesome. And above all I like how you pulled it by doing 2 jobs. Respect!

Are those VRM waterblocks custom? or you modded the motherboard VRM heatsinks itself?

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks, I appreciate it! Wasn't easy, but you gotta do what you gotta do!

The motherboard comes factory from Asus with an EK made waterblock installed, it's a key feature of the Formula series. Definitely the way to go if you're making a custom loop!

TweaknFreak 1 point 5 months ago

NIce to know that. They look dope.

TheDarkClucker 2 points 5 months ago

Can I marry your computer pls?

No but seriously. This is a sexy build and TASTY setup. The story around the build is awesome and I love the absolutely stunning pictures. I must admit when I saw a pink and blue build featured I peed my pants a little. I currently living in Australia but am moving to Christchurch New Zealand later this year and as soon as I do I plan to do a build like this. I have fallen in love with the blue and pink miami theme and your work has perfectly depicted everything anybody could ever want in a PC. I am not going to lie... I dont think anybody can make any improvements on this. I know I am fanboying on your PC a bit but..... SHUDUP! Its beautiful and I think the thought be hind every component is very interesting. You justified your GPU choice well, and while I would have gone with a 1080 TI, I really want that 20 series card because.... ummmm because! I dont need a reason to destroy my hard earned cash. Nevertheless, I think your build is amazing. Really great job and your hard work has payed off! Good job dude and congrats on the feature <3

Also mind if I steal a few ideas xD

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thank you! Very kind of you - and I don't mind at all, I used several builds here, such as PTjutsu's Poseidon 2.0 and XXRAYZOR's Sad Machine as inspiration. Just another reason to love PCPP, spreading awesome ideas to make the best rigs we can!

Kurajber 2 points 5 months ago

The dream! Very nice, looks amazing.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Thank you!

Kurajber 2 points 5 months ago

Still can't belive how good this build is and how great it looks lol

freindlybuild 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Wise choice Sr canceling you pre-order I actually hate when people make them . and the build looks amazing +1

HiResJunky 2 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Great story and an awesome build, never compromise on your dreams!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Hey, I remember commenting on your crazy no-bends build that got featured! Thanks for checking my build out!

weasleyawesome52 5 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

First things first, awesome build! but now for the question, is there any reason you didn't get a coolant concentrate like primochill vue or something of the sort?

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks! And I did get some clear UV blue coolant, but I wanted to see if I liked clear coolant first, so I'll be switching back and forth, most likely as I flush the loop form time to time. As for opaque coolants, lots of reviews have expressed the same idea - they look great, but in terms of long periods of use, they're not ideal as they can gunk up your loop. Great for showroom builds, but for something that'll be sitting on your desk for a couple years, it's best to keep your coolant as pure as possible.

Plus, I just prefer see-through coolant. Looks too good!

weasleyawesome52 5 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

thanks for replying! one last question, will you have to drain the loop for the ssd installation or no? if so that's gonna suck.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 3 months ago

UPDATE: I did not have to drain the loop for the installation of the second SSD, but I did need to use one of those small screwdrivers you normally use on those small Tech Deck finger skateboards! That was a fun time...

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

HAHAHA I had that same thought - let's hope not! In my mind, it'll be a simple slide in, but ya know...these things never go according to plan...

SlickShoes17 3 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Amazing! Will you upload a pic of your cable management in the back?

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

haHAA

As you wish, I'll do so when I get home. Be prepared for an absolute mess!

vekspec 3 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Those lights..... stares at it like a zombie Lights....Lights...

Great build! even better description! I'm still trying to figure out what HD 700s you are referencing haha.

I too was originally planning on the RTX but I saw a review from Dave2D and he said the RTX is basically a "pointless" series to upgrade to since no games take advantage of Ray-tracing, the power requirement is high and that for the price wise, you won't see a huge difference based on what he can put together. For example he took teraflop power and said the 2080 is only about a couple hundred better than the 1080. Basically it's really hard to tell if the RTX is going to be any significant improve over the 10 series in gaming....right after all that blabble, I got a 1080 Ti as well, heck with it HAHA

Your build gets a +1!!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks! Good to see another 10-series supporter!

Jnathanroy 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Gorgeous. A calculated study in opulence. And fully prepped to take advantage of the upcoming 9900K!

echo13 2 points 5 months ago

Your build is amazing! Thanks for sharing it with the world. Question: where is the power supply located? I don't see it in the picks and I would like to know to clean up my build.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thank you! The PC-011 is actually a dual chamber case, so all the mess of the PSU and cable management gets stuffed into the back - leaves the front with none of the ugliness :)

Jben2776 2 points 5 months ago

+1 For the Sector 9 longboard

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Oh man, I haven't ridden that thing since I bought my GTI! It was a blast though for sure

Jben2776 2 points 5 months ago

2010 GTI Owner here as well. Also my components are pretty similar to yours, i have 7700k with the formula IX instead. Just minus the loop, extra m.2 drive. different case, and all those fans. Weird.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Wanna know what's even weirder? the URL generated for my build ends in mk7WGX...

I drive an mk7 GTI, and I have the WGX variant of the PC-011 case...coincidence??

w4rchef 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

A piece of art!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thank you!

AlexaEtCetera 2 points 5 months ago

This literally looks like Vaporwave: The PC. I need it in my life.

Zelda_ 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Very. Very nice.

Honestly I'm not a huge RGB person, I mainly stick with black and white, maybe blue if I'm wanting colour. But you made the cyan/hot pink work a la Hotline Miami style.

Motherboard and GPU choices are top notch, I heavily respect an ASUS user. I myself use a Strix 1070 and Z270-AR board in my soon-to-be upgraded personal rig.

Peripheral choice is solid, I'm rocking a K70 Lux and M65 Pro (but don't quite have the Dollarydoos to afford HD700's)

Power supply choice is great, EVGA make some brilliant pieces.

I like the choice to use purely NVME based storage to remove as many SATA plugs as possible...I know firsthand how painful they can be to manage when you have fan controllers and water cooling components hogging them all.

My only "critique" as such is your lack of ultrawide monitor, and while yes this is personal opinion and it is entirely tongue in cheek; ultrawide displays are incredible, and you'll never want to not use one once you've tried it.

Well deserved feature, just stick around for the upcoming build from myself Skydancer. Icarus

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thanks for the input! Much appreciated

And I have used ultrawide in the past, but I used to stream and plan to get back into it, and it can be a pain trying to get an ultrawide to line up properly in a 16:9 stream, ya know? Oh well. But thank you!

Tisleet 2 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Sick build, overkill (extermination?) does not exist here. Also, nice RGB color choice wink

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Thank you!

tribalmog 2 points 5 months ago

So I lurk mostly, but I had to tell you - kuddos. Nice job on the feature build. And I can super appreciate your overkill components - I'm in a similar build situation. Very similar components selected for mine as well. My issue is friends who I am using as a sounding board who keep saying "well you can get the same performance if you do xyz", "RGB is a waste of money" "That's so overkill" - yes, I know it's overkill. I know I am buying way more performance than I need. Shut up and smile at the unicorn light show because it makes me happy. Biggest thing is I'm terrified to watercool via custom loop. So big kuddos there. It's gorgeous!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Don't let your dreams be memes! Go do it! And I appreciate the kind words!

icebreaker374 2 points 5 months ago

I actually don't have words, lmao.

XXRAYZOR 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Who cares if this thing is overkill, it’ll last you a VERY long time and an absolute demonstration of hard work, patience, and beauty. A million +1 from me and congrats on the feature! Amazing work

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

YOU! Your build was such an inspiration to me, I'm honored to get a comment from you. I have your Sad Machine bookmarked LMAO

Thanks for the kind words!

XXRAYZOR 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Glad I could be of help! That makes me really happy haha. You did a great job!

I have a mATX threadripper build in the works right now, granted it wont be done for at least another month (case is being custom made right now). Hopefully you can catch it when i post so i can get your opinion on that one too!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

I will definitely keep an eye out for it! +1's at the ready 0.0

Aquilian 2 Builds 2 points 5 months ago

Now that is an impressive build. Feature well deserved! +1

Solid choice regarding the components, seems you've got a soft spot for ASUS, which I can totaly relate to. And I particularly like the neon-ish theme. You definitly should stick to clear fluids imho.

Congrats from a fellow custom hardline loop first-timer! ;)

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Thanks! Means a lot coming from someone whose build I admire greatly :)

PEBeacon 2 points 5 months ago

I Usually don't read these long descriptions, but your build was so BEAUTIFUL that i decided to read it,and i did not regret it.You give me a good reason why (when I become an adult)I should work hard. The PC is absolutely overkill, but in the right way.I made some overkill PC part lists,I just mainly focus on Ryzen,as I would like to stream on Twitch, but my brother would never let me buy Ryzen even if i had the money because,"AMD makes crap parts",and while I wouldn't buy an AMD GPU,I think Ryzen is the "comeback" of AMD.When you look up 1000-1500$ builds you mainly see Ryzen, and for a good reason i think.Anyway I rambled on about Ryzen for too long, congrats on the feature, and i hope you have the best gaming moments of your life with this computer.

P.S If I'm gonna Build a PC,I'll go with an AIO.I Have never touched a Computer component,so A Custom Water Cooling Loop wouldn't be a Good Idea for My First Ever Build.

May Your Framerates Stay High,And The Temperatures Low ( Which they definitely should with all those Fans and water cooling.)

PEBeacon

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Ryzen is definitely a comeback for AMD, I'd say if you want to go with an AMD build, forget what anyone else says.

Glad you liked the read! haha

PEBeacon 2 points 5 months ago

Yea,you see I can't buy a computer or parts, without my brother's permission because mom thinks "i don't know enough about computers". also nice name, after caveman241 commented about it i figured it out

P.S I Say thank you from everyone in this comment section for answering quickly.

Hi, sorry for the late response - I actually drilled into the bottom grill underneath the case to allow for the cables to pass through and connect to everything else. Nothing more fun than drilling into your $300 case! haha

PatitoStark 1 point 3 months ago

can you show me that

thank you

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Not exactly - the PC in all weighs a little under 80lbs, and there are simply way too many cables being routed around in the back for me to get a simple picture of these cables. You'd be able to easily see where to drill when you're ready to start going at it, just be careful to not drill into any critically structural parts!

TheDarkClucker 2 points 3 months ago

Hey. I come back to this build all the time because of how stunning it is. Just wondering though, did you use Ensourced Cables? And would you possibly mind if I kinda stole your cable scheme idea? I just love it so much! But I totally understand if you want it to be original so it is really all good... Thanks! And I hope to see more amazing pc work from you!

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Hey, sorry for the delayed response - thanks for the love! And of course you can steal an idea or theme here and there. That's what's so great about the PC community, that's what it's all about. Get back to me when your build is done, I'll check it out!

I would honestly love to just copy paste this build and just put it in my room lol. Maybe switch to AMD components but same aesthetic.

TechTuberTV 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Dude.....

TechTuberTV 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

I thought my build was good. This is by far the most underrated build on this site.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Don't sell yourself short, you got a ballin PC over there, my dude! I appreciate the kind feedback!

TechTuberTV 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

nice job for the feature! Well deserved.

MrUhOh 1 point 5 months ago

Now I need to go check out your build. I feel like I'm gonna be jealous all over again.

TechTuberTV 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

lol

Velocitron2000 1 point 5 months ago

Elegant. Beautiful photos too. What's the design thing on the bottom fans?

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Thanks!

That's an acrylic fan grill from jmmods.com. Great quality item for the price, and he offers many other designs!

Srikzquest 1 point 5 months ago

Why did you chose 4*8 GB RAM instead of 2 * 16 GB RAM? As the other way would let you still have 2 empty slots if needed in future. Of course, 32 is more than enough and probably 4 filled slots looks beautiful but is there any other reason?

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

I'll copy and paste a response I posted earlier:

I would have done 4x16 for even further overkill, but just as I couldn't possibly justify spending $1300 on a single graphics card, I couldn't bring myself to spend around $800 on RAM haha. I do agree though! If I had a LITTLE more money, 4x16 would have been even better!

And yes, of course all 4 RAM slots need to be filled if we're going for the most aesthetically satisfying build here . . .

Srikzquest 1 point 5 months ago

Makes sense and sorry for not reading all the comments. Also, as another person requested, I would like to see how you tamed the huge cable mess. By the way, you simplified the RGB to make it very beautiful. I liked your approach with cleaner RGB instead of showing all the colors in the visible spectrum as a complete mess.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

Well thanks, I'm glad you like my color scheme!

philostic 1 point 5 months ago

Are those water-cooled VRM's on the mobo? holy hell

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

Yes sir, Formula motherboards come stock with an EK waterblock for the VRMs. One of the most attractive reasons for getting this specific motherboard, but also a reason it remains one of the most expensive Z370 motherboards ._.

dbakas4699 2 points 5 months ago

I did not know the Formula boards had that feature..... Beautiful build!

philostic 1 point 5 months ago

Crazy stuff. Absolutely stunning build.

auldae 1 Build 1 point 5 months ago

You didn't need to tell me to shhh and just look at the pretty lights, but I'm nonetheless thankful for the great advice. +1

adimitriadis9 3 Builds 1 point 5 months ago

Wicked nice build dude. Thanks for sharing. How did you get such good low-light photos?

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 2 points 5 months ago

What's that component colored purple in pics 4 and 5, inline with the cooling loop?

I really love this build! It looks really good. Check out my water-cooled build! Keep up the good work!!

seuthy 1 point 5 months ago

looks amazing! Where’d you get the cables from?

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

Sorry for the late response, I've been on vacation! I got them from ensourced.net!

seuthy 2 points 4 months ago

No prob, thanks man!

alexio215 1 point 4 months ago

How on earth did you find such a well priced 1080ti?

alexio215 1 point 4 months ago

Also beautiful build, congrats.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 4 months ago

eBay - used but in mint condition, still had the little plastic bits on the shroud! $550 plus like $13 shipping, couldn't pass it up!

alexio215 2 points 4 months ago

Congrats, thanks for answering.

HeckinSnek 1 point 4 months ago

DAMN

Bozosword 1 point 3 months ago

Very good job, looks great. The only other thing I have to say is http://www.megabearsfan.net/image.axd/2017/2/Moana-Tamatoa_neon_590x248.jpg

TTV_IcyPeaks 1 point 3 months ago

Is the power supply enough for this beast

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Sorry for the delayed response! I actually responded to this on your new question, sorry!

TTV_IcyPeaks 1 point 3 months ago

Is the power supply enough

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

It is! People love buying 1000W+ PSUs for their overkill builds, which only adds to the overkill nature -you don't need that much power at all, even to run an 8th gen i7 and a 1080Ti. PCPP will actually warn you if your part list needs more power than the PSU you selected can provide :)

GoldTerror 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

is having 2 75hz monitors and a 165hz monitor weird? I'm asking because I want to have a similar monitor setup in the future.

dixonerfais submitter 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Not at all! I do definitely feel the choppiness going from my main to the side monitors, but I never use all three to game, just the main one. I felt the need to get three monitors simply because I'm a screen real estate monster o.o

mitchthomas 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

On photo 25 what’s that roll of paper towel for? ;p

NervousNinja 1 point 2 months ago

Brilliant show. Love the layout, balance, and lighting. I may take an idea or two for my own :-)

Fir3Kuna 1 point 21 days ago

Glad to know I've inspired! And the last three fans are underneath the case, I had to drill a hole in the floor of the back chamber to wire them up haha

And I have a Shiba Inu, so obviously the Shiba paintings are obligatory! :)
