Description

This Is My Original Build. With My Newer Build Rev 1.1, I've upgraded from a Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 960 4GB to Asus's Strix GTX 1060 6GB and I have also switched my Enermax ETS T-140 BK to an NZXT Kraken X61. As you'll see in the pictures, I have managed to keep my smaller hard drive bay with the radiator installed.

Part Reviews

CPU

This has been a part of the recommended CPU specifications for games for quite a while now. Compared to Intel's CPU's, this CPU is GREAT for the money! But get your wallets ready cause here comes Zen!

CPU Cooler

What's Not To Love About This Cooler? Alright, there's one flaw, you can't turn off the lights. :P I don't mind that though as I bought it cause of the LEDs.

Motherboard

This is a budget board. The black/white theme is nice and all but when it comes to overclocking don't expect much. Also, the 970 chipset on this board gets EXTREMELY hot. I'm talking 95C+, once it hits over 110C the system throttles down, so DON'T overclock with this board. Other than that, USB 3.1 is Really Fast!

Memory

I Love This Ram Kit! They looks nice and they don't get hot.

Storage

I store my games on here :P 4/5 Cause It's Not A SSD.

Storage

My OS, pics, vids, programs and applications are stored here. 4/5 Cause It's Not An SSD

Storage

I store my gameplay recordings as well as you know what on here :D 4/5 Cause It's Not A SSD

Video Card

YES!!! My baby, I finally own you! I only paid $177 for this card at www.jet.com the price was just right so I had to buy it. Plus, I LOVE this card! From the looks to the performance per $$$, this card is PERFECT for 1080p gaming.

Case

There's Just One Flaw With This Case That Annoys The Hell Out Of Me, The Fact That The Holes For Radiators Located At The Front Of The Case Are Pre-Aligned. There aren't any slots for users to manually adjust the height of the radiator like there is for smaller radiators. The dust filters do a really good job, the sound dampening panels greatly reduce noise, big clear easy to scratch window, supports up to 6x fans, and has a built-in 3pin fan hub that supports up to three fans.

Power Supply

It's cheap and it works. I just wish that all of the cables were completely black and that PSU manufacturers color the connectors themselves. That way if you need you to short two wires you'll only see the red, green, and yellow wires when it's unplugged from its receiving connector.

Case Fan

10/10 Moves a good amount of air and stays quiet while doing it.

Of course the quality is good, it's by a Swedish company :D Seriously though, it's a high quality case.

Haha. Sorry. I have seen comments about Fractal Design having low premium cases. Guess they were wrong

I've seen plenty of there cases in person. They all looked good, even the ones that had experienced rough handling. Whether they were knocked off the shelf or some kid drooled on them due to their aesthetics. :D

Hey DJ,

Good build - balanced - good mobo - good PSU.
Just a thought - GTX 960's are faster than 970 when in SLI - so if next year when prices go way down and you want to buy a 2nd one - it will make a big difference. Congrats +1

  • 1 point

Yes man, a balanced build :D Thanks for pointing that out. You know what, I was thinking about doing just that. The thing is Nvidia's unveiling their new line up of GPU's April 5th. I don't see a reason in grabbing one just because it's a new architecture, I mean look at the CPU socket i chose. It's not terrible IMO but it's not the latest and greatest either. It gets the job done and it does it right. Shoot, I like this card so much I might buy another one next month. I'll post an update if I do. I don't mind upgrading the PSU anyways, the connectors are hideous.

Well DJ, right now you can play anything but don't go out getting any new parts right now - your fine. In November - like a black friday sale you might see gtx 960's as low as $150 because Pascal chip GPUs are coming out by the end of summer. Patience is a virtue. :)

Patience.......patience and people such as yourself are the only thing keeping me from empting out my wallet. I'm in the process of building my dad a PC as well, as far as price/performance goes well be sitting in the same boat. Well both end up running GTX 960's in SLI. I've never owned a SLI rig before and my dad hasn't owned a gaming PC since 2011. This will be a fun experience for the both of us.

Yep,

Google a YouTube search of GTX 960 SLI vs GTX 970 vs R9 380.
That's the video I'm basing my opinion on. I have one slot on my mobo - so no sli - I have a gtx 970. GTX 960 sli are faster than the other 2.

Trust me, I know, I spend a good portion of my day watching comparisons, game-plays and PC builds. Two 970's in SLI will beat a 980 but everyone knows that a single high end card is "better" than 2x lower end cards. Even though I have absolutely NO experience with SLI configs, I have high hopes for DX12 and SLI :D

DJ - this guy is comparing a 2gb GTX 960 sli to a 970 - You have a 4gb card.

Yeah I was looking for the color scheme, or at the very least for this to be a flight sim build...

  • 1 point

The title has nothing to do with the Jets or flying at all. "Project", because it was my project to build. "Blue", that's my color theme, along with black/white. Finally, "Angel", that's the first word that popped into my head when I was thinking of what to name my PC lol.

feeling of a first build is awesome! if you ever upgrade it is literally better though. Opening up a 350 buck cpu...

  • 1 point

Yeah no thanks, I'll stick to mid range CPU's and later on High End GPU's. I know that over the years PC components have become a lot more idiot proof but no matter how careful I was during my CPU installation, I ended up bending a pin, I bent it back but man was I scared and upset XD

question. Why a billion hard drives?>

  • 1 point

2x of the drives came from my old pre-built HP desktop 1x Hitachi 1TB and the 500GB By Seagate. I took the 1TB Seagate drive out of an old Dell Desktop. My 500GB is FULL of games, my Hitachi drive has the O/S along with pics and videos on it. Finally, my 1TB Seagate, Recordings of game-plays. Later on Ill replace the 1TB Hitachi drive for a 500GB SSD. I might get 1x 2TB SSD and 1x 1TB SSD too.....IDK yet.

I've experienced racism my whole life, if you're going to join the dusty old bandwagon, at least come up with something funny. Otherwise, you and your racist friends can all go live together on some distant planet where there's just enough oxygen for you guys to survive 24hrs. Hopefully, that will allow you guys to ask God for forgiveness and hope that when you die, he accepts you.

Racists just exclude theirselves from a prettier community. I don't know if he meant it that way but I hope you know better of yourself as a human than what some retards are screaming over the internet. Sorry for the weird english but im at an 8 and english is not my native tongue.

Great build man. Was first thinking you had made some angel wings inside when I saw the title. But it still looks awesome tho!

Ah thanks man! I'm still adding a few finishing touches such as a GPU bracket and PSU Extensions. I REALLY, REALLY, R E A L L Y, (sorry about that) want to change to color of the heat sink on my GPU. As you can see its aluminum with a copper heat pipes. I want them to be all black. A shiny ✨ black. I've a fair bit of research and found out that anodizing would shoe the best results. I think. Painting it is just not an option, yeah I know its just a few degrees difference in temperature but it just doesn't feel right. I want something more....how do I put this, professionally looking V.S. a 5yr old was given a can of paint

  • 1 point

Haha I feel ya. I sprayed my PC as a kid with a green alien ware logo. I don't remember the exact specs but I know I had trouble running Age of Empires lol. I had fun with it and at home we didn't had the money for something better so I guess it was totally worth it. But if you have something nice like this, I don't think it is worth to paint it a different color!

I don't see where and form of racism was implied, If you assume everything you see is racist, maybe posting and sharing on the Internet is right for you.

Great build btw, very similar to my own that I will sharing soon :D
