I built this machine so that I could pass my old one to my girlfriend and get her with me to the master race
Been running like a dream the only thing I'd like to change is the psu cables to be thinner but I'm satisfied for now.
Only issues I had was with the 2080s the evga j had I really liked (featured in the i9 photo) but after a week had extreme coil whine and fan clicks, switched to a gigabyte windforce 8gb but that one the software was malfunctioning like crazy. Causing 2 crashes when switching from gaming to quiet mode. Eventually landed on the msi gaming x trio and have been more than satisfied with it so far have had it run at 2100mhz out of the box with no overclock on my end
Last build that I passed on was an i7 7700k with a gtx 1070
Update: had some people asking about temps
so in general under gaming load both the 9900k and the 2080 idle around 35- 40 with adjusted fan curves on both the pump and the GPU. under full gaming load usually 70 is the maximum but i'm in a hot apartment in Texas so it tends to make ambient a little higher generally though both hover around 59-65 under load. if you plan on grabbing the msi card i would highly suggest setting a curve the stock temps are well within operating temps but still high for my blood at around 75-ish or more but with a little tweak they are still totally silent and run the card much much cooler.
also should note i run the i9 at 4.8 across all cores i could push it to 5.0 but i haven't seen a need to and same on the GPU it runs from 1950 to about 2100 out of the box so again i haven't added any overclock to it.
UPDATE 2 : after all the feedback I decide to go for it.....and pick an msi rtx gaming trio 2080 ti. And you guys were right it really is the GPU this build deserved it has exceeded my expectations for what I thought it would do I cant recommend one enough if you can fit one in the budget
