Description

Built this PC to reconnect w/ an old friend in 2016. Originally used a Fractal R5, but upgraded recently to an Enthoo Evolv TG + Corsair ML fans for something nicer to look at :)

Getting into streaming & trying to optimize for gaming @ 165hz in OW while recording live. I don't know if this is gonna' cut it, so I'm heavily considering swapping the CPU/Mobo to a Ryzen 7 or building a Ryzen 5 PC for dedicated streaming.

Would love to get any thoughts!

Awesome build +1, very aesthetically pleasing.

How are your temps in this case? Had the same CPU/GPU in my previous build (MSI GTX 980 Ti golden edition tho) with this monitor OC'd to 165 Hz. The 980 Ti ran pretty hot and tho the Evolv TG is one of the best looking cases around IMO air flow was restrictive. I have the same mouse pad as well but the 48"x24" size. Its pretty awesome, I have it spread over my table and keep my monitor, speakers and keep the Corsair Gaming MM200 Cloth mouse pad over that for keyboard and mouse.

I hope you enjoy that awesome monitor

Thanks! The monitor was a big upgrade from 60hz and was the main reason I've been getting into competitive FPS + streaming.

My temps are pretty stable at 36C idle and 50C~ max under load. The GPU is high 70's on average when streaming + gaming, mid 70's while just gaming. Although, I'm thinking of upgrading the gpu to a 1080ti if it helps with streaming. I heard it runs a lot cooler. My old fractal case was maybe 3C cooler.

I heard the same thing about the Evolv TG especially that the top mounted rads have issues exhausting air, but I agree it's one of the nicest looking mid towers. I did a simple mod by sealing any excess mounting areas/holes in the top bracket with tape. This prevents it from recirculating warm air back into the case and exhausting through back/side vents (although ventilation could be a lot better).

I heard they fixed the vents/airflow problems with the new mATX Evolv TG so I'm hoping they revise the ATX line.

Thanks for you comment!

I am looking into purchasing this case and I am also getting a H115i cooler.

I love your setup, but was slightly concerned about airflow throughout the case. I was thinking I would setup a push pull airflow for the front rad and then install 2 or 3 fans on the top and 1 at the back.

Do you ever have any temperature issues? I have seen people with this case stating that they have had problems getting the hot air out of the case.

Thanks!!

I'm happy with my CPU temps at 35C idle to probably not more than low 60's while gaming. Temps were worse before I upgraded the 980ti to a 1080ti which runs a lot cooler (I think all the 10 series cards do compared to previous gen?).

I've heard other owners having issues with temps & there's a quick recommended mod to seal any of the top sliding radiator bracket's excess holes with duct tape when mounting fans/rad. Without it, I read hot air can recirculate quickly and cause higher temps. There's also a simple mod to elevate the top panel for better ventilation.

I've also heard a front rad can lower temps too, but I've been lazy to test this out.

If you like the look, I wouldn't be too worried. Although, I don't tax my components too with anything crazy like a 5ghz OC or extended periods of heavy load so YMMV.

There is a video on how to stream 165hz while keeping that same 165hz using some cables.

This is a epic build I love the tempered glass case and the purple LEDs. Only thought is that I think you should have dropped the 750 on the new 1080 Ti not the last generation one. But overall epic build !

Thanks! I built this last year before the 10 series cards were out, but I'm thinking of upgrading the GPU if it helps with streaming.

How come you didn't you just go for the 1080 ti since you're already around the price range of it?

Built the PC last year & recently upgraded the case, cables, & fans. 10 series cards weren't out yet :)

Yeah, it has a bit of backlight bleed. Nothing too distracting while gaming. Was a little worried since I heard it's a bit of an RMA lottery with these units.
