This is one awesome build. One of the best I've ever seen. The PCPP community salutes to you.

this is my view point: PHOTOS: as always, you lights in these fantastic photos very high quality and perfect lighting PC: this is a beast, with a green and white theme that personally are not colors to my liking (for me it is better black and red) but good are your tastes besides that as always you get a good cable management and a very good aesthetics, is also the pc that more money is taken even more than the exion so it shows all your effort VIDEO: I am a subscriber to your channel for quite a while and let me tell you you're doing a great job all powerful lord ed time last videos is perfect plus a music spectacular background for each different computer besides that always file a edition very good.

well now already and I analyzed the photos, the computer and the video is time to give my final verdict which is 9.4 / 10 if one of your best constructions without doubt I took my +1 but I just do not I liked are the colors and why not wear a 10/10 I think that would be all, well done sir ed, greetings from Venezuela (I am very poor and I have a pentium without terjeta video: 'v) sorry if I sound weird xD I'm using google translator

Hey Ed! I'm such a huge fan of your channel, I have a question for you, I have a GTX 970 currently, do you think that I should upgrade to a GTX 1060/1070 or an RX 480 8GB? Or should I wait for the hype to die down and the prices to drop a little? Also, this is what I'm running currently if that matters. :) Thanks!

  • 2 points

The GTX 970 is a more than capable card. You don't need to upgrade to anything. The RX 480 only slightly outperforms a GTX 970 anyways. I'd wait for the RX 490 cards to be released. That will be a upgrade worth getting. :D

  • 1 point

I would wait, especially if your at 1080p.

  • 1 point

Am not ED but: only upgrade if YOU feel that the GTX 970 is not enough for what you are doing. RX 480 and GTX 1060 are not really upgrades from a GTX 970 But a GTX 1070 would be a huge upgrade if YOU think it is needed ;)

what are the programs you are using?

Well, for starters, I do those annoying "Gamer-y" intros on Fiverr, using Cinema 4D and After Effects. I also do a lot of projects in Sketchup, Solidworks and Maya.

I think this build will be featured. It has an i7-6950X (a 10-core Extreme Edition), water cooling, 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, an Intel 750 series PCIe SSD (probably my favorite SSD), WD Black, two GTX 1080's in SLI, NZXT S340, custom green paint, and LED strips. I really like your part choices and the aesthetics together.

What can i say Ed. Sweet build and before i even seen it on here, i watched the time lapse and was impressed

  • 2 points

Not sure if you're the real Techsource or not but even still, I love the builds. I don't know if you remember but I typed up a freakin English Paper long comment about the color scheme xD You should try and make a black and gold build. I really want to make a black and gold build in the Corsair Air 540 because I can use the 5.25" bays as a resevoir/pump combo to save space. Maybe you could try and do so to make my dreams come true?

Why does an overkill build like this only have 32 gb of RAM?

  • 2 points

32 GB is more than enough.

  • -1 points

32 GB is more than enough, but in a computer with a $1700 cpu it seems a little odd that it has a completely normal amount of RAM.

  • 1 point

32 GB is not a completely normal amount of RAM. Most average computers have 8 GB or 16 GB of RAM at most. 64 GB would be much more expensive and isn't necessary.

Hi Ed,

Nice build. Again. Always loved your work.

You are the reason I am now a huge fan of the NZXT S340 case and even built one of my own.

Do you have any tips to improve my build? I feel quite satisfied with it but there is something missing and I don't know what it is. https://pcpartpicker.com/b/RDtJ7P

Thanks!

Awesome build! I like all of the customization that you did, it's nice, clean and very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It also gave me some ideas of how to better customize my future build which I'm planning to have a green and white color scheme.

  • 1 point

Edgar/JailBreak, can you provide the cable types, lengths and quantities you used at http://www.v1tech.com/product-category/customextensions for us? I'm not clear on what to get. FYI I'm building everything the same as you minus the PCI HD and I'll be adding a second 3.5 drive (still will have 2 SSDs like you have). Thanks, I really appreciate it.

  • 1 point

I would have liked to have seen you match the green with the color nvidia uses, but not too bad. I'm little ocd with balance, but you went a step beyond the ordinary. I would take a sharpy or something to your rad, where you smeared the paint. Now, on to the good stuff. . . Some sweeeeet components in that rig! very nice! How are you liking the 6950x? What are you coming from, and what do you use it for? LOL, 4.3 ghz, 10-core i7. . . MIND BLOWN

This is a really awesome build. I just have one query. How did you manage to hide the Corsair Link Cable that heads from the water block to the mobo USB 2.0??

  • 1 point

Absolutely butchered the rad paint... That part of the rad is removable, so next time you go doing that, Try to take it off for better results :) Also, try to be a bit more patient with your SSDs and your NVME drive. The vinyl on the SSDs look kinda janky, maybe try an exacto knife next time. As for the NVME drive, it has too much green and just looks out of place IMO. That part really is up to the viewer, that's just my opinion. But those are minor errors that I am sure you have already realized. The rest of the build looks stunning. You really did a great job with the ram paint as well as the paint on the PCI slots at the back of the case. I actually might do that in my next build. Anyways, great job with the build. Thanks for some inspiration!

Curious about the choice of the Intel 750 SSD, presumably as a boot drive. I understand that they are very, very fast. And more reliable than the M2/PCIe blades, with no 2Gb cache/flush risk etc.

But many expert reviewers have found no significant speed advantage (over a regular SSD/S6) in real-world usage. Perhaps because the Intel/750 series is really designed for punishing data-center use, and not for the SME /Enthusiast.

However, they are certainly a lot more expensive.

Also, your pictures (12,13,14) show the SSD/DIC right up alongside your GPU/1. Does this cause any heat problems? Thanks.
