Description

I'm not sure where to begin. Building this PC has been more stressful than it should have been...? I think I had more problems than most people run into. It's been a month since the actual build but I'll try to recollect everything that has happened. Sorry in advance if I misuse a term, this has rapidly become one of my favorite hobbies and corrections are appreciated.

My first problem was the CPU fan. No matter what I did I could not get the screws to line up straight with the threading on the motherboard. Even trying to align it (without any tension in the screws, hovering over CPU) they did not line up right. I'm not sure if this is how it was made, but being my first time I was reluctant to try and force it. No video or explanation showed the force I had to use to get it in place. I screwed one side in, then went across("star pattern ") and screwed that in. Even still, I always had a screw that was off by a centimeter and I had to push the whole fan over to get the screw to bite the thread. That was the only true problem I encountered while actually building the PC.

Multiple problem occurred installing drivers/OS/whatever. Installing windows from the USB which had the creation tool on it, I was prompted with the internet section. I plugged my Ethernet cable in without second though and was good to go after entering the password. The video I watched (and many others) required a wifi dongle to get internet as they needed the Ethernet drivers. This didn't cross my feeble mind as I then tried installing my Ethernet drivers. I lost connection. So albeit, a mistake I caused myself. What I had actually downloaded was the gates to hell onto my computer. I'm sure I did something else that contributed to my problems, but this is what happened. My programs would not show up when opened. It was like my screen didn't have a boarder. When hovering over google chrome I could see I had a tab open, but when I clicked on it it didn't show up at all. Then well I'm not exactly sure what it was technically but basically everything got extremely big. The windows start logo in the bottom right was basically my entire screen. I figured my only option at this point was to do another fresh install of windows. Turned the computer on and off multiple times hoping whatever it was would fix itself. It didn't. Cried myself to sleep that night and woke up determined to fix the issue. Somehow, probably god himself seeing how unjust this whole situation had gotten that one nerd just wanted to play video games at an actual 60 fps, it went back to normal size. Still had no internet so I knew something was still wrong but hey, at least I could see. I IMMEDIATELY reset the PC with a fresh install of windows. Thankfully the second go around I pulled my head out of my tukis and was able to get everything running. Or so I thought. Trying to plug in my mic I find out (guessing) my front audio jacks are broken. I know it's not the mic, it works when i plug it into the back directly into the motherboard. I've tried changing the output and making sure drivers are up to date and anything else I read off google but nothing seems to have worked.

The biggest question I feel I can answer about my experience is would you do it again? As an open heart patient with two mechanical valve I can ensure you I would in a heart tick. Ha ha bad jokes it's my post get over it. But really, owning a PC is much more of a blessing than I initially though it would be. My PC has allowed me to venture into other hobbies and interests I might not have taken up if I didn't have a PC. This post has become more than I initially was going to write, if you stuck with it until the end thank you.

Edit: Last photo is whats happening now with the monitor. I'm 99% sure it's the monitor, when I turn it off and on it fixes itself. But it's not a one time thing, happens every day now. Going to return it. Picture of the keys is to show so spots darkened on the key caps. I can live with it, I guess.

Thanks! As a college student I don't have tons of funds to decorate how I'd like but the couple of posters gets the job done for my needs!

Sounds like the PC from Hell. But no worries. No one ever has a perfect build no matter how many builds you have in your resume. The issue with the browser tabs not showing anything may be related to Windows Updates. Specifically KB 44771324. This patch fixed some IE browser issues that caused symptoms that you described. So if you were still running Windows updates while attempting to open your browser, it could have caused this to happen. I have had the same issue you described with the Ethernet Drivers not installing. I even tried installing them from a USB to no avail and only a fresh install fixed the issue. This happened a lot when I was imaging Windows 7. With 10 I have yet to encounter the issue (fingers crossed) so you are not alone. Way to soldier on with the build because it looks great. Excellent job on cable management and it really has a appropriate theme.

I love the fact that you have the Red Devil model. Fits perfectly with this PC.

Next time your having issues with the Ethernet, skip it on the windows installation and meanwhile download the Ethernet drivers on a usb drive. when you are on the desktop you can insert it and install the drivers. Then restart and boom

Sent them back actually, too tight on the head. The range was also subpar, couldnt leave the room without them disconnecting. It's not like I was walking far away (single story house). I should note (I think at least) I have a pretty normal head.I decided to go with audiophile headphones and an usb microphone instead. I got these https://www.massdrop.com/?origin=%2Fbuy%2Fmassdrop-x-sennheiser-hd-58x-jubilee-headphones and a blue yeti microphone. 5/5 for the 58x, 4/5 for the yeti. My next purchase will be a dac/amp, but my PC does power them perfectly fine. If you want a headset I recommend HyperX, particularly the Cloud Alphas. If you want wireless they offer the Cloud Flight, another wireless headset I was looking at. (same one that shroud uses if it means something to you) Here is a review of the Cloud Alphas https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSE7sC9_ivk&t=707s&ab_channel=ZReviews Hopefully I could help.
