So to start off I'm going to explain the background for this build. All the parts that are zeroed out were parts from a friend's build that he gave me in exchange for helping him build his new PC (that build will be posted later). While the processor isn't the best as it is an APU it still gets the job done and hey, you can't beat free! When building I picked up the SSD and PSU for cheap with my discount from working at Best Buy. She then decided she didn't like playing on her TV and picked up the monitor for $80 on Black Friday. She also works at Best Buy and bought the headset with an employee accommodation. Then for Christmas, one of the things I got her was the mouse and keyboard combo!
She used to be an avid console gamer until we got together and I introduced her to the "PC Master Race". So far she has really enjoyed the flexibility and how damn cheap we can get games through steam sales and such.
Thank you for looking! Please leave comments if you wish!
Edit: The pictures at the end is of the new, updated build.
Seems to work okay, although i'm sure it is bottle-necking the system it was free and worth it.
We found that the CPU was really overheating (around 100C) so we went and picked this up from best buy with her employee discount. The hottest core is now around 75C under load with a slight overclock.
No real big complaints besides the IO shield being kinda cheap and there only being one fan header that wasn't the CPU header.
It's RAM and it works so it's good!
Just like the other RAM it works! (Not too spendy either unlike if we were to buy more of the Ripjaws RAM)
It isn't quite as fast as something like a Samsung drive but it is certainly faster then a HDD and has pretty damn good startup speeds.
I've used several of these now and they've never failed on me. Although whenever I got this one from the build it was always at 100% load but I seemed to fix it through Windows.
For $199.99 this graphics card is hard to beat. I managed to overclock it to 2.12 Ghz Stable which was a welcome suprise from this card and does just fine at 1080p.
Yet another build in this great budget case. I believe this is my fourth or fifth build in this and it is just so easy!
Not modular and not the highest tier but for $37 it's not bad.
For $80 you really can't get better. This thing was a steal and i'm super happy she picked it up.
Edit: Got a second one when they went on sale again and she likes having both.
Coming from a 7$ mouse and keyboard combo this is an upgrade that she is really enjoying. She loves the LED's and the keys are satisfying enough for her.
She's not completely used to wearing a full headset so this is still strange for her but she likes the sound quality and from my end the mic quality is pretty good.
