Description

This is my first gaming build with budget in mind. I was lucky that a lot of stuff either were on sale or had rebates available when I purchase them. The total comes out to be around $1400 AR.

Intel Core I7-7700k - I was debating between this or Ryzen 7 but with the capability issues and promotion that was going on for this chip at the time, I ended up getting this.

Gigabyte z270 Gaming 7 - This motherboard have many features. The RGB lighting is nice and compliments the case and EasyTuner apps allows you to OC your CPU at 4.7 Ghz.One issue I had was using usb mic in chats, my friends were telling me they could not anything but loud statics. I am still trying to figure out why this is happening. If any of you had experienced similar issue, please comment down below. turns out connecting to rear usb port solves the issue

Phanteks EVOLV ATX - I love this case. The exterior aluminum finish looks great and the existing cables are already organized. There are plenty of space in there and it feels like a full tower to me. It comes with one fan in the back, and two fans in the font. It is amazing!

EVGA 650W Semi-Mod - Semi Modular is bit cheaper than full modular design. This one only has 24pin cable hard-wired, everything else is modular. Very popular PSU.

Gigabyte GTX 1080 D5X - If you do not want RGB light on your GPU or if you need a smaller profile so it fits in your case, this card will be perfect for you. This is like the base model of the windforce or gaming 1. I wish I waited for other models to drop in price, so I get the RGB light and a bit faster core clock. Don’t get me wrong, I have absolutely no issues with it so far.

Nice build! Have you thought about overclocking? With the 7700k and that CPU fan, you can overclock your CPU to maybe 4.5 or 4.6GHz.

i will say the only thing id recommend is possibly getting some phanteks cable extensions. itll clean up some not to pretty wires. I just uploaded my phanteks evolv build yesterday so if you want you can take a look at that and see what i mean by cables looking just a little prettier with extensions :)

Overall thought great first build!! +1

Pretty sweet build. You might want to get some more storage at some point, as 500gb can be filled up pretty easily.

The static can happen at times with new motherboards.

Have you updated your drivers for onboard audio yet?

I've installed the sound blaster driver but it still happens on bnet chat. I going to try change the mic device from default to specific mic to see if that fix the issue.

Yeah, I tried both versions individually, and the problem still occurs. I was using the usb 3.0 port on the front panel that came with the case.. I'm going to try on-board usb 2.0 port and see if that's the issue.

Turns out my usb mic works fine using the rear usb port. The font panel's usb port its either faulty or applies too much gain on the signal i suspect.

I like this build a lot. It has a good processor and the case is very "sleek" how does it run games like gta or other frame heavy games?

I'm gonna test it out on Ghost Recon Wildlands and i'll keep you posted. It runs HOTS on highest graphics setting with ease. I expect nothing less for the gtx 1080 card.. lol

Nice processor, and +1 for the Aorus mobo! look into getting a Western Digital 1Tb Caviar Blue or BLACK HDD to supplement your SSD for storage, best to not clutter it up!

Yeah the Aorus mobo is amazing.. RGB light looks great and super easy to install and setup. Only issue was the mic static.. possibly human error (pointing fingers at myself)..
