Description

Upgraded as of May 2017. The Ryzen 1700x is a godsend. It has overclock itself to 4.0ghz when playing demanding games or using intensive applications. The gigabyte gaming k7 has it issues (bios), but was well worth the upgrade and the RGB lighting is a plus! Dual bios is useful as well. =]

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

The cooler has lived up to it's name. When at stock performance it keeps my cpu below 61c and this is while playing Dark Souls 3 in 4k.

Video Card

This card is amazing. Maxed out any game I threw it's way. Played Dark souls 3 in 4k, the 8gigs of vram helped in that situation. Used only 5-6gigs of the vram. During the gameplay the card would reach 70-71c. I did pull off the side to my case because The MSI version of this card blows the hot air out of the side of the gpu. I believe this was done to allow cooler crossfire setups.

Case

I've had a couple issues others have had. My front panel usb ports are also glitchy. (Fixed). Sometimes when I plug something in the usb port of a the front panel my pc shutsdown. One of my fans leds wire is shorted( Fixed when I moved the side fans to the front, led's work fine now). This cases airflow is the key seller. You can have quiet time or wind tunnel. =D

Power Supply

10 year warranty, need I say more?

It really sucks you had your drives stolen! I'd go door to door investigating, that's $100+ lost! Either way, amazing build!

Usps doesn't cover stolen packages. I work for UPS and during peak we give small packages to usps called surepost. Usps is responsible, it happens. I know who did it, but they lied to me, wasn't worth the confrontation. I'll be moving soon.

U know that the current processor you have is binned to go to 5ghz at 1.4v to 1.5v right?? What are you waiting for??? DO IT!!! Lol

I currently have it at 4.7ghz. I will push it to 5 when winter comes around. =D Currently it hasn't pushed beyond 58c when at full load.

Agreed! I did a benchmark test using http://www.userbenchmark.com/Software It stated my chip was above average. Still amazed I reached 4.7 ghz without touching my 1.5 volts.

Very nice build! That case looks pretty sweet. How's the 8370 doing? And what monitor are you using?

I am loving the 8370 as I have stated on the side. idle is 16-18c while full load is breaking 50c on CPU based games such as World of Warcraft. The monitor I am using is a television. =D An LG 32 inch 1080 60 hz edition. =D it's lovely, I am using the 390x's VSR

beautiful building, I'm sorry for what you and success, however, flip the power supply.

I know it seems odd and you would expect the fan to be facing down.

I had enough head room between the psu and gpu the airflow in my tower pulls air through the front, plus the fan on the power supply hardly spins. (The case is so chilly it makes my room colder) I assumed with amd I would at least exhaust some heat, nope my tower is a spaceship. =D 100% satisfied. Go amd.

Nice build. Im sorry to hear about your drives getting nicked, usually you have a trusted person it gets delivered to when you arent in I suppose things are different in the UK.

Yeah, every other piece of mine arrived. I am not sure if stolen or USPS lied, they told me one story and my g/f a complete different story. I cut my losses and bought better drives. =D I will be moving soon, I will not have to deal with theft. =D Plan to build a wooden crate with a lock.

Hey bro you should flip the power supply with the fan facing down so it intakes cold air from under the case and exhausts it out the back, rather than getting hot air from inside the case. Nevertheless, very nice build. I am sorry about your drives being stolen! :(

Should've got an i5 or an i7 the CPU is gonna hold you back in some CPU intensive games

I Plan to overclock, did my research the amd 8370 and i5 4690k the i5 only beats it in single thread by a small amount. I had a political standpoint as well. I'd rather give my money to Amd, plus the 8370 has more overclock pontential.

CPU intensive games If you try to play games like planetside, for example, your FPS will suffer because of your CPU

Never planned to play planetside, but I admire the advice.

Hey! Nice build. I was thinking about getting that same cooler. How did it work with that ram? I am a bit worried about the clearance.

  • 2 points

You can adjust the fans for ram clearance if needed. I didn't have an issue. The cooler out performs any single 120mm radiator liquid cooling unit. That is impressive considering it cools with air. The heat sink is colossal , I definitely recommend a full tower casing.

How is the board faring? This board or the ASRock Taichi, look to be the most stable ones, in my price point. Ive looked a newegg, some people say this board is broken, how is it for you?

It does have its bios issues with ram, but all Am4 boards do. It interlocks your ram to 2133 mhz.

i xpmd my trident z rgb 3200mghz to the rated 3200mghz speed, with a 3.7ghz overclock to my ryzen 1700, on the ASRock X370 Professional Gaming

It was finicky at first. Once I received a couple bios update's it has been fantastic. I currently am using F6 bios version. My ram is finally stable at its rated frequency. :) I expected the inconvience since most boards were out of stock.
