Description

So this has always been a dream of mine. This project has taken a total of 4 months to design and build. Now it may not look like a lot of fancy wood work but this was harder than you would expect it to be. It is a big desk, a ton bigger then I expected I would make. The desk is 7' 9" X 4'. I used 3/4" and 1/2" birch wood. Built in 4 sections the Top and bottom cabinet and the 2 massive drawers. I have the Top Cabinet as the main area where all the components are. The bottom cabinet is acting as my False floor for all my wires and so on (Don't mind the wire mess to much I did some cable management but I built it like this so I did not have to worry to much). Also with the wire management there was a lot of distance to cover so I could not rout the the way I wanted or else I would have to use to many extensions.Got a a 1/4" tempered glass ( side note it is 81lbs) So for hardware it will be in the description and my 3dmark links. For cooling I have 4x 480mm/45mm 1x 480mm/30mm and 1x 360mm/45mm radiators. 3x D5 pumps. 28ft of clear tubing. 31x 120mm fans. Well I hope you guys like my custom desk. Let me know if you guys have any question or comments. I worked really hard on this and my first time doing a full custom build like this. Thanks :)

A tip: Put the finished image as the first image so that it shows up as the thumbnail.

Nnurd 3 points 3 months ago

same thought. i almost didnt make it to image 20

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks for that I did it late last night and I guess it flipped the order I wanted it in.

gugu96 19 Builds 7 points 3 months ago

I was going throught the pictures and realized "oh my gosh so many... wait, that's TWO computers"! Nice setup.

Note: so you're telling me there are 2 tiny arms to lift the top of the desk (including the 81 pounds glass)? Holy carp that's some strong lifting!!!

Tetsuclaw 5 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

Yeah I thought the same thing, why so many wires? A PC does not need anywhere near that many wires! Then I saw it was actually 2 computers instead of one lol. GG no single picture of the top of the desk to where you can see both PCs at once clearly.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Yea I am working on getting a better camera to take pictures with other than my phone. Also yea believe it or not that is the most I can cut wires down to. Still it mostly the distance same have to travel just to get to the components. My biggest thing is that I have the false floor so that I can easily replace or swap stuff out and not have all the wires twisted together. Also some cant be wire managed because they are running in the shortest way possible because some of the lengths it has to go. Thanks for checking it out and I will work on getting a nice top down shot of it.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

Yea the gas struts I have on there may not look big but they are rated at 150lbs per strut.

Somerando 4 points 3 months ago

Sick build.

FurryJackman 3 Builds 4 points 3 months ago

This is art. This is ACTUALLY art.

I smell a feature.

Absolutely beautiful. I would have loved to see it hardlined or at least with some of the tubes exposed you have SO MUCH surface area to make some sexy patterns with tubes or wires.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

I agree. It would be amazing. I just really wanted a clean looking desk first. But I have so many thing I want to try now that it is built. The only downside is the hardline tubing would cost me a ton of money because I know I would not be able to make every turn perfect the first time so there would be a lot of extra needed. Thanks for the suggestion.

Dm_Lightning 3 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

Spends $11,000 building dual pc desk

Don't wanna spend too much on a keyboard tho

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Funny thing is I love the Logitech K120. I love the key layout the best on this one. It also works super well for me and is very conferrable for me to type on. Nonetheless I have been thinking of the Logitech G513 with its very similar key layout.

Lion_is_balanced 2 points 3 months ago

This build is awesome, nice job dude +1

ATV_Raptor 3 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

It's a piece of art ! I also dream to build a custom desk pc, haven't been through the trouble to try and make one just yet.

chrisportela 2 points 3 months ago

Photos make it hard to fully realize what an awesome build this is. Really shouldn't bury the lede here putting the nicest picture last after 20.

Super awesome man. It looks amazing.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks for the words. I have fixed the order of the pictures and will be getting better pictures soon. I did not mean for the dirty side of the build to be the first pics. Glad you like it :)

Tisleet 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

This is sick! Only suggestion would have been to paint after drilling holes for the tubing, or wait until you clean the loop and throw some grommets in the holes

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

Thanks. I did drilled them before it was painted. I just did not have a lot of paint left and I will be going back and touching stuff up when I have more time. I have a lost growing of things I want to fix up on it.

LKeenan 2 points 3 months ago

next cleaning, you should use purple coolant instead of blue, since red + blue = purple, and it would kinda match both of them

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Does not sound to bad. I might think about doing that the next time I drain it. Thanks

LKeenan 1 point 3 months ago

No problem!

LKeenan 1 point 3 months ago

you could also try to mix som red with it rn might not be too safe tho

Nater650 2 points 3 months ago

3 pumps??? Wow

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Redundancy and kinda needed at least 2

daUnitedpotato 1 Build 2 points 3 months ago

All I have to say to this is WOW. What. A. Build.

11/10, my friend. Seriously well done.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Thanks :)

firewrath9 1 Build 2 points 3 months ago

why do you have a WD purple? and dang thats a lot of hard drives xD Do you have a NAS

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

The purple is because my server is also my DVR for my cameras for security.

MaximilianZ 2 points 3 months ago

it kinda triggers me, that the red side of the loop has blue fluid...

OCD

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I know. It is the same for me. I am still figuring it out. But mostly it is what I had. Taking suggestions as well.

OllieManMan 14 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Homemade desk-pcs ftw!

I like your hinge idea. Love the dual system. Nj!

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Thanks :)

londonftw 1 point 3 months ago

Why were you using Matx mobo’s

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

So that server build was in a Corsair Air 240 as a at one point a mobile server and productivity pc. It has since then migrated into this desk build. Although I have designed this desk with a large board on both sides in mind. Each side of the desk is drilled and studded for EATX. Just waiting for the day till I have the money to upgrade the components. All components in this build were acquired over the course of 2014-2016.

SOULgamer10011 1 point 3 months ago

WHY ALL THE TERRABYTE

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Never to much haha

deusexmachins 1 point 3 months ago

what are the temps in the desk?

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

The temps in the desk are equal to what ever the room is. The area in the desk is large and has enough airflow that it matches.

PCDJMage 1 point 3 months ago

How long did u save up to finish this build? +1 for amazing build btw

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

well the parts were collected and used in regular cases from 2014-2016. The desk was started around April 2018 and finished it September 2018.

Anyansayo 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Wow, it looks like a miniature city in there. That is insane that you have two PCs in one! On a different note, I'm pretty sure that your electric bill might go up just a little bit. But it is probably worth it though!

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Yea the desk it self without the monitors pulls 345 watts 24/7.

Bozosword 1 point 3 months ago

Nice build, love the mini paintings. Did you get the desk built or build it yourself?

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks. Built it my self over the course of 6 months.

felohany 1 point 3 months ago

i wonder what the temps are xD

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

well at idle the water temps are at ambient along with the gpus. cpu is 2-3c above ambient at idle. under load max temps are cpu 50c and gpus 40c.

felohany 1 point 3 months ago

nice, may i ask what thermal paste was used?

Grumpyscomputer 1 point 3 months ago

did you ground your motherboard in any way? i am also building a wooden case and am about to start assembly and wanna know some stuff to look out for

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

My motherboards are on standoff mounted through the other side of the wood. But the grounding comes from the psu when it is plugged into the wall. So no issues here. But I also have a grounding wire going from the stand offs on the bottom to the wall outlets ground when I am doing random work and cleaning of the case everything stays grounded while i have my psu unpluged.

beardedmisfit 4 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Holy ****ing cables Batman! lol That's a sweet looking build. I can appreciate the time that went into this. I'd love to do a desk build. Great job Warcobra! +1 Congrats on feature!

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks. Yea the cables are hideous. But that's why they are hidden :)

ZedSamCat 1 point 3 months ago

wow, just wow

anonymousdingo2320 1 point 3 months ago

Wow.....

Slingshott 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

2 suggestions: change the coolant to a more color neutral color between red and blue like purple or black or white. Second suggestion is to cover up the blue o cool logo on the red side with tape because it isn’t really in the color scheme

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Yea I see what your saying. It will be a work in progress for a while. I just started throwing it together as best I can at the time because it had been 6 months and I needed to finish it because I was going crazy. Thanks for the suggestion. Looking into better color matching.

oblivionofficial 3 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Why an i7-5820K?

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Because those components are from when I got them new in 2015. Still waiting for the day I feel like upgrading is worth the money.

AnoMVP164G 1 point 3 months ago

My greatest fear is having to move that absolute unit

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

That is why it is in 4 parts. So with a couple people to help lift it and move it to a truck its not so bad.

SirHalpin 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

This is very well done, its nice to see a project come to fruition. I think my favorite part is how gentle and casual the RGB is, its not in your face. +1

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Thanks for the kind words :)

LameGenie 3 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Sick PC you got there. You chose good brands to go with. You sir, are awesome. Only thing I would change is the cable and hose management underneath. But other than that, dope computer desk.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Yea it’s a bit of a challenge to do the underneath without adding lengths to make it look better and tie it up. But I’m slowly figuring out the best way. Thanks.

LameGenie 3 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

You and me are the same. We should be friends.

LameGenie 3 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Hey. there's this thing called Synergy. It will allow you to use the same mouse and keyboard across multiple PC's at once. You should check it out. I think it would be perfect for this build.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Yea so I was using it but sometime I multi task to a point where I can’t just switch between the two like that.

DarinGamer 1 point 3 months ago

Synergy brother, why do you have 2 keyboard?

shmoo11 1 point 3 months ago

Under your desk.... WHAT ARE THOSE!?!?!?

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

My beat up kicks.

alexstore06 1 point 3 months ago

This is REALLY nice! Great job!

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks.

Fleetleader101 1 point 3 months ago

When ur money has money

LIVE_AMMO 1 point 3 months ago

I don't usually spend more than a few seconds on these build pics unless something catches my attention. I've been caught, entertained, enthused, chewed up and spat back out. Oddly enough, if the first time wasn't enough, this is the second visit thanks to the homepage feature.

+1 (the effort here deserves more)

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Thanks. I’m glad you liked it. Of course much more work to be had.

kaldaus 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I absolutely love this build NICE JOB!!!! I am in the process of planning out my next build. I generally pick a game to use as an inspiration last build was for fallout 4 (was a bit disappointed in the game but anyway). I decided to do an obsidian inspired one for my next one.I reached out to them to see if I could buy something cool to put into the build. I would love to pick your brain sometime to get some ideas let me know if you have some time to answer some questions. I would ask firstly if you would build your own desk again or if you would pick using a hydra or LI-03-12? I ask because while my other half is somewhat good with tools to build a desk I am not the best so just wondering if its worth the effort or expense to do it custom or one of those I mentioned. Thanks and agian AWESOME BUILD ;)

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I am happy you like my desk. So I will get right into it. I would if giving the time and better area to work in I would definitely build it again. The reason I built it was because the other desks out there like the Hydra and so on were not very big for the cost of it to me. I wanted way to many features and ease of access and space in my setup. Let me be clear though unless you are a carpenter and have a shop with all the tools this is not going to be easy. With my situation I was in an area with a 9'x7' area to cut wood and a 14'x20' area to put it together in. So not much space. Also my only primary tools to cut wood was 10" sliding miter saw, Circular saw and a jig saw. I had to come up with unique ways to cut the wood strait with out having a table saw and much space to work in. But if you are determined enough I believe you will make something you can like the same or more than something like the hydra desk. I hope I answered you question and more. If you have any other questions I will be happy to answer them.

tech_geek100 1 Build 1 point 2 months ago

does the hyperx ssd have functional RGB without the mobo control?

Highkeywalts 0 points 3 months ago

No GPU?

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Strange It moved the 3 gpu's to the custom section. Apparently because I wanted to have my exact models and made it my self it wont stay in the graphics section of the parts list. So it is stuck in the custom section. It is SLI EVGA Titan X (Maxwell) in the main pc and EVGA 980ti FTW in the server pc. Thanks for pointing that out.

Highkeywalts 2 points 3 months ago

No problem for pointing that out. Its a sick build by the way.

Highkeywalts 1 point 3 months ago

What kind of fps on high demanding games do you get?

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

well it is kinda hard to say for sure because it depends on CPU intensity and if it properly utilizes SLI. So for Games like FAR CRY 5 I get about 100 fps on ultra at 3440x1440. Battlefield 5 is not using sli to much so I get about 65-80fps at ultra 3440x1440. Then also we got rise of the tomb raider giving me average of 78 fps 3440x1440. So pretty good i think especially when a game has decent sli support. Also this is my Firestrike LINK (https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/25209901

Highkeywalts 1 point 3 months ago

HOLY COW!!! That's insane

Highkeywalts 1 point 3 months ago

Hey you seem like you know a lot about PC's. Would you be able to criticize my build? The budget is around the price point if you look at it. Just wondering if you could take a look.

CamManCraft 0 points 3 months ago

This is an amazing build. Definitely won't be buying these parts anytime soon as they are overly too expensive for what I want to do on my computer. This is truly overkill. Nice job!

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks.

samonsite 0 points 3 months ago

Why two computers? No explanation was given.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

Sorry about that. Two big reasons for the both computers. I already had the computers in separate cases in my office. One was a server computer and the other is a gaming/productivity computer. Second reason is I had this large desk drawn up and I was like how is one computer going to fill this space? So I then decided to put both in and mirror it as best I can on both sides. Thanks for the question.

Zirf -7 points 3 months ago

Would have been so much better with a dedicated graphics card.

legomaster 7 Builds 4 points 3 months ago

They do have graphics cards

Zirf -5 points 3 months ago

not integrated, I meant actually dedicated graphics card

Qeory 2 points 3 months ago

They do, 2 EVGA Titan X's for one, and a 980Ti for the other.

Zirf -2 points 3 months ago

I dont see it.

Qeory 2 points 3 months ago

it's on the parts list, scroll all the way down.

legomaster 7 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Just because on the complete builds homepage it does not list the gpus, does not mean it does not have any.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Yea so that's one thing I can't fix with the parts list. I wanted my exact GPUs and why I paied for them and they are not on pc part pickers inventory. So unfortunately they get sent to the Custom list and not GPU list.

Anyansayo 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

I think that it is possible to move a custom part to a specific category if you edit the custom part and what type of part it is.

Warcobra submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I did and for some reason it keeps forcing it down to custom after saving it.

The x99 parts are from 2015. I just have not upgraded to any new tech in a while.
