Description

It has been 2 weeks since I built this PC, so far has been performing beyond my expectations. I 've been playing on a semi-old HP laptop that has a GT-650m, so this is a mayor upgrade for me. Besides the PC, I also bought a 1080p monitor, and this is my first time playing at 1080p! The difference between 720p at low settings and 1080p at ultra is abismal!

The main purpose of this build was to play games and a tiny bit of video editing. I have a lot of plans for this build in the future, so I will be updating this post when I get the new components. I made a video talking about my overall experience as a first time builder , if you want to see it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lnv_6XIftI

CPU: This is a great CPU for the price, it performs really well. I know that there is the Ryzen 5 line up coming out, but this is good enough for what I need.

Motherboard: The motherboard was quite expensive, a friend recommended me this one. It is a really good looking motherboard, but it's an overkill for my taste...

Storage: I am amazed as how fast an SSD is. My old laptop (500gb, 5400rpm) took forever to load windows, now it loads up in seconds.

Video card: At first I was scared because I wondered if 3gb of VRAM was enough, but so far I had no issues. But I am planning on upgrading this card later this year...

Case: I am from Argentina, I didn't have too many to choose from...

Power Supply: I know that now it's an overkill, but I will be upgrading the gpu soon :)

A big thanks to everyone that helped me on the forums when I was having trouble!

BTW, Can you tell me why you chose the 1060 3GB over another card (480 4GB for example.)?

I mean no rudeness, just curious.

At 16 you're more or less as capable as any adult.

I would have waited on the ssd and used the $50 to get the i5 7600k instead. i say this because if you had done that you could hvae just grabbed an ssd when you had a little extra cash. now if you want to upgrade the cpu later it will be another 250 dollars and its hard to get your money back on cpus. just my 2 cents and opinion. overall nice build.

I really don't need extra cpu power + if I bought the i5 7600k I would need a motherboard capable of overclocking. PS: saw your build, it's really nice

Have you noticed the Asus Strix B250F Motherboard Boot_Device_LED stays lit after waking up from sleep mode? Wondering if anyone else having the same issue.

A friend recommended this one to me, it was a mistake... Too expensive and I am not using the extra features.

Thanks !
