Description

This beauty is mainly used for gaming and multimedia stuff :)

When I was planning this build, I was looking for a system which allows a tight placement of the components without a lot of gaps and good possibilies to hide all the cables.

Initially I was going for a black/white build, but it was difficult to stick to the theme and find the matching components so I decided to splash red into the mix.

Overall building this system went really smoothly and there were no major problems. The only situation I had to use some force was during the installation of the radioator, because the USB/Audio connectors of the Manta are placed very closely to the mounting position of the radiator. What I really liked was the extra space provided by the curved backplate which made it very easy to manage all the cables.

Update (30.05.2016): - Added Cable Combs - Added Custom Backplate for GPU

Update (01.08.2016): Bought the Acer Predator XB271HU

Future Updates:

  • GPU: My "old" 970 gtx will be replaced by a red/black themed 1080 gtx with a custom backplate.

  • SSD: +1 Corsair Neutron to make the build look even more awesome :D

Part Reviews

CPU Cooler

Installation is very easy and the overall quality is great. I replaced the radiator fans with AF140's to match my build a bit better and it's still performing well with much less noise. The tube-sleeving looks great and I also like that you can adjust the RGB color to match your build.

Memory

Super fast and imo one of the most aesthetic rams out there. 5/5 would buy again.

Case

A well designed and awesome looking case.

Great :

  • Huge window to show off your build

  • Alot of space for cable management due to the curved form of the case

  • High quality materials

  • The possibility to hide the power supply makes the build look much cleaner

Not so great:

  • Some SSD's will be upside down when mounted

  • Depending on the radiator size, you will have to apply some force during installation

How'd you get the lighting like that?

I used 1x Alchemy 2.0 Magnetic Strip (white, 30mm). It is attached in front of the radiator fans on the top

I was interested in the Z170 Pro AC I was wondering what your thoughts are on it

Overall a very decent board. It has all the features I need and the sound/build quality is great. Installation was easy and everything is running smoothly so far :) Haven't done any testing with overclocking though and if you need a full-length M.2 port (I don't) you have to go with another board. 9/10, would buy again :D

Great Build! I am building in the manta case but can't decide on an itx board. It is a toss up between the Asus z170i or MSI z170i :/

This is a very clean build, but I don't really like the Manta.

Also, you're wasting the potential of that 6700K,I mean you have a Z170 mobo, you got a liquid cooler, you should really overclock. If you didn't wanna do that maybe you should have went with the 6600 or 6700.

Other than that, #+1

Cheers,love!

Ty for commenting :) You're absolutely right ;) I just setup the system 2 days ago and I will experiment with overclocking for sure after I've done some research. It's just that I am not very experienced with the matter YET :D

That's gonna be one beast of a build.

Have you considered waiting for the 1080? Heard the benchmarks put it WAY above the 980

I am actually :D I used the 970 from previous machine

Wow...the color scheme just works. Have you overclocked the cpu yet? If so, how easy is it to overclock on the MSI board?

Thx mate :) Haven't done any overclocking yet though

Cool build! I also got the Manta (black/ red). Your comment about the H110i GTX had me switch to the smaller H100i v2. These tubes look pretty stiff. Did you mount the radiator and fans to the case first, or the cpu head first?

  • 1 point

Glad it helped :) I mounted the radiator and the fans first. But I think it would work the other way around too :D

Have you had any issues with the keyboard, are the leds bright?

Hi there :) No issues with the keyboard so far :) But there is no wrist rest, so I had to buy one.. The LEDs are very bright.

Is that a custom backplate on the 970 or did it come with it? :o

  • 1 point

Hi :) It's custom and I ordered it at coldzero.eu

How did you fit the corsair h110i radiator on the top? Mine doesn't seem to fit as the tubes get in the way. Also the manta case only has 3 pin fan connectors which dont match both 4 pin fans

Great build! How have you found the Temps since you went with an ACX cooler for the card instead of a blower configuation?

  1. Aesthetics and noise level (PC is next to me on the table). Also they have decent air flow so I decided to try them :)
  2. BitFenix Alchemy 2.0 Magnetic Strip (White, 300mm). I updated the part list
