Description

Ever Wonder what an all RGB build would look like? What it would cost? How it would perform? Well Wonder no more.

Some of you might say that it's all too much and sometimes it can be BUT the versatility of this system is limitless. When I first set out to build my own PC, I saw countless themes, styles, color schemes etc. I just couldn't decide and could never settle for one so I wanted to build something that would have it all. You want a red/blue theme? Everything is controllable. This is what I set out to build a year ago and I'm finally there. Check out the last few pics ;)

OMG I finally got featured build. THANK YOU PPP! :D

Since I'm definitely not the RGB master you are, do you think that the Corsair HD RGB fans are better than the NZXT Aer fans when it comes to their RGB capabilities?

Also, great build (kinda goes without saying, I mean look at it!)

  • 3 points

I actually think the AER RGB fans are better. Software control > Analog control any day. But I had to have 6 fans in there and to get 6 AER fans in there I'd need 2 Hue+ hubs. There's no way I am doing that.

Swa-eeet! You picked a great case, I just did a build with the Phanteks Evolv TG. I want to know how did you install the fans on top? I see you did the AIO radiator vertical it didn't seem like there's much to work with on that top rail they provide. Very slick build. I've not settled on final cooling yet. using air cooled with a FUMA for now.

  • 1 point

The case has a built-in mounting bracket on top. You just attach the fans to that and voila. Thanks!

  • 1 point

Hmmm I was looking at the bracket for radiator install in the top of the Phanteks case but there are no threaded holes for fans to install. I could of missed something, it looked like the bracket would hold the radiator and the fans screw into the coolers radiator hardware.

  • 1 point

No you can install the fans by themselves without a rad. You just need to use the wider and shorter screws usually included with your fans.

  • 1 point

I see you still haven't gotten something to put under your case. Do you plan on doing that soon? I recommend you do. It would suck for something this cool to get messed up because of negligence.

Anyway, fantastic build.

2 questions

Why place you PC on the Carpet?

What are the temps for your GPU (only asking because I want to get an SLI build but i am too scared of the temps ruining the card)

  • 2 points

Small apartment no space. Will move to a roomier place once the lease expires. Temps are great. There's a CAM screenshot with all temps listed.

  • 1 point

All you need to do is literally just get a thin piece of wood cut the size of the case to put underneath. This isn't a hard problem to fix.

  • 2 points

Yeah just been lazy since my PSU features a hybrid system where the fans only spin when they need to and the fan is facing up. But yeah I'll eventually get something in there unless I move to a new apartment sooner.

  • 1 point

I wanted to match the Red/Blue theme. When Gskill finally releases the software for their RGB RAM, I'll put em back in.

  • 1 point

IDK what the room temp is but I've always had really good luck with picking cases that have really good airflow. My RGB snow build sits idle at 16 :)

  • 1 point

Thats kinda impossible, your rig's temp never go above your room's ambient temps.. Thats basic

If your idle is 16, how much your room's ambient could possibly? 10?12? Do you sleep on ice?

  • 0 points

My rig's temp can't go ABOVE my room's temp, OK I get that. But the fact that my rig idles at 16C shows that my rig is BELOW the room's ambient temp not above it. That's basic.

You said the rig temp can't go above the ambient temp in the room. So then why are you proposing that my room's ambient temp must be lower than my rigs' temp? Come back when you've got your math and logic sorted out.

  • 1 point

Did you just ask "that room's ambient temp must be lower than rigs' temp" ?

The answer is yes.. System's temps can not go lower than your room ambient's temps, you said your rig was 16c at idle right? so your room must be lower than 16c, that is what i meant here by "basic"

And my question is, where do you live in a room that has temps under 16c, south pole?

  • 1 point

I try to hold my setup and wait for nzxt aer, well, corsair hd is cool but analog isn't cool at all 7/10 Btw, how u put x62 in front like that without remove tray above hdd

  • 1 point

I managed to put the controller outside of my case so not much of an issue for me. I would get the NZXT Aer fans except the Hue+ controller can only support 5 fans at a time and I don't know if I want two of those things in there just for that extra 6th fan. X62 solution has been posted in a previous post for the same build.

  • 1 point

Hue+ support two channel, each channel can hold up 5 nzxt aer or 4 nzxt led strip

Still dont understand about x62 solution, im sure u need to grind some metal to fit ur x62, am i right?

  • 1 point

Yeah just recently found out about the Hue+. I'll be rebuilding with the Hue+ fans and LED's. No, no grinding necessary. Remove the front plate and the fans. Align the radiator to the bracket (the one built into the front of the case) from the outside. And screw in the fans to the radiator through the bracket from the inside.

I like the core component selection very much, I'm planning a very similar (but less beautiful) project... https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/NobleSavage/saved/#view=Dh33CJ

Would like to know how your MoBo compares with the Asus STRIX Z270-E GAMING ATX (which I have pencilled in).

Also why 2 M.2 SSD's?

  • 2 points

It's similar in pricing but better in every way. In fact, I don't even think my Rog Formula VIII is as good as the Aorus Gaming 7. The list of features on these boards go on and on. Plus it looks beautiful and performs wonderfully.

Why two NVME SSD's? Because my PC boots up before my monitor turns on, that's why :)

  • 1 point

I'm a bit of a PC build noob, it's my first, so the 2 NVME SSD's are in a raid set up? Is that straight forward to do?

Thanks for your thoughts on the MoBo, I will switch.

Thanks! I can't do 4K benchmarks on this since my monitor maxes out out 2K resolution. I do have a 4K TV but idk if I'll move this PC to the living room for benchmarks. I also don't have most of those games you listed except MK XL. I'll post the 2K results for that :)

Connect your pc to that 4k tv please and send me the results bro. If it has hdr then turn on. Don't forget game mode as well. You should definitely buy those games which I listed. Got to love two 1080s in SLI each in X4 Mode XD. Your 7700k has 16 lanes + two name ssds that are M.2 each taking X4. Epic fail on the CPU Choice there!

P.S. Noice build in terms of ascetics.

  • 2 points

Whaaaaaat?? This is new. I've got my SSD's setup in RAID 0 and running my OS off of it. So I know that's working. I've successfully enabled SLI and played games in SLI. So where is my CPU failing? Scratches Head

  • 1 point

Well, your CPU isn't failing, your cpu has 16 PCI-E lanes it supports. Each m.2 SSD takes x4 lanes each so 8 lanes there. Then each gpu will t ake anywhere from 2-16 lanes. And because you used 1/2 of your 16 lanes (8), each gpu will have to run in X4 mode, or 4 lanes.

I was origionally going with the same CPU in my build, but then I realized I need to go into X99 to get enough lanes for 1 m.2 and my two gpus to be in x16 mode.

  • 1 point

I've seen benchmarks and read reports on numerous tech blogs where they say the difference is between 0-1% on PCIE x16 and x4 in real world scenarios. Especially while gaming the difference is minimal to none. We're talking 96 FPS VS 95 FPS. I can live with that "fail".

  • 1 point

Well ok then :) keep in mine when benchmarking and a few other tasks, it makes a huge difference.

  • 1 point

Yeah you're probably right but idk man I mean I spent so much already and I haven't had any issues yet so it really isn't worth it for me to make the switch. I did learn something though and I'll keep it in mind for future builds, thanks!

Nice build. Whats the name of that monitor? How do you like it? Is it overwhelming while gaming? Im thinking about getting an ultra wide.

LG 34UC88-B. I like it a lot. It takes some getting used to especially in games but if you sit back a bit it gives you a huge advantage due to the increased visibility of your surroundings.

I looked at your list of completed builds, and how tf do you manage to afford all of those, especially with the parts you put into them? a quarter of your builds at least have 1070/1080 SLI...

Also great build! i'm planning on building something like that soon :)

NZXT's CAM software. Google it, it's a free download.

Spectacular build, but so were all your other posts of the same build.

zeza how did you get the hd120s to work on the 280mm radiator?

  • 1 point

The rad fits on the outside of the bracket and the fans fit on the inside. So Fans inside, bracket in the middle and the rad on the outside. Screw your fans into the rad from the inside.

  • 1 point

Beautiful build ! One question, I have the same case, same radiator, and same fans. I see on radiator you have the 2 corsair fans. But on the other side of the radiator (behind the case cover) do you have any fans ? And with your current setup are your temps good ? No problems ? Thanks !

  • 1 point

No it's pull only so there's only one set of fans on the inside. Temps are GREAT. CPU temps sit idle at 16-18C and GPU temps are at 34C on average.

Nice build ! Quick question, I'm building a new pc and got the same setup of the x62 and the same 6 fans your using ! How did you connect and wire all the fans? Thanks in advance !

The Corsair HD fans come with a fan hub that'll let you connect up to 6 fans so just use that.

Great build! I got the same ram you do but in 3200. Just put my build together tonight. Did all your ram sticks leds work hassle free out of the box? I got one stubborn stick that wont change colors or cycles. It just stays stuck on the default rainbow pattern. I tried asus aura software, uninstalled, rebooted and tried gksill's software too. Both failed and that's after the lastest bios update. Asus IX Maximus Formula mobo. This is so frustrating, lol.

Zezainster, thank you for sharing your build. I've been planning my own first build around what you've done here. (https://pcpartpicker.com/user/jbruso/saved/RLj7P6) Parts are on the way now! I'm so excited.

Question: For the Kraken cooler, you have venting out the front. But, there is a dust filter there. Why not vent the water cooler heat out the top of the case so that you can draw in clean air through the filters in the front of the pc instead? Was it a space problem?

Thanks!,

John

Yep. Zezainster has posted a version of this build before. I'll post the same thing I said last time:

The problem isn't necessarily with the main part of your system getting dust, it is with your PSU being choked for air and sucking in dust straight off of the carpet. Sure you've got the feet on the case, but since you have somewhat shaggy carpet, dust is bound to head straight for your PSU if it isn't already choked by the carpet.

You've obviously got a great system (and great looking, might I add), so I think it is worth it to get a thin box (like a keyboard box) or a piece of hardwood to lift it off of the ground at least a bit.

  • 0 points

Or flip the PSU upside down?

  • 8 points

The PSU is flip sided.

Hey man for real even get a small black shelf from your local hardware store and just put it under, thats what i did.

  • 2 points

The psu is flipped. The fan is on the top side pulling air from inside the case. See picture #7.

  • 3 points

Ye i get it just still its nicer.

  • 2 points

Agreed. Couldn't hurt to have something under it. I'll have this worked out before I post my next update with MSI's 1070 Quicksilver in SLI.

Don't bother with the negative comments bro , You will never be able to please everyone . You got the featured build and that means you did really good . The most important thing is that you love it . Btw I think it looks amazing , congratulations .

P.S . I agree with jipster69 , really great build .

  • 1 point

Yeah exactly. I'm not going to let myself get sucked into the haterade troll vortex. I love it and I can turn the lights off if it's too much for me or change the color scheme. That's what I wanted and that's what I made, couldn't be happier.

Thank you :D

  • 1 point

Exactly...I'm only 15 and saving money so I could only DREAM of having your perfect build :')

Well done! It looks amazing!

  • 1 point

Think of it this way. You're only 15 and if you save up for two years you'll have a better, newer and more powerful PC than me. Plus you'll have it at 17 as opposed to 30. OK now I'm sad :(

  • 1 point

i loooovee RGB!! Everyday another colour lol. Just love all the possibilities!!

Great build!!

Oh and btw i believe the fan on that psu runs only at high loads or certain temps so most of the time it doesn't spin. So in the end its not that bad to put it on carpet as others here say ;)

+1!!!!!!

  • 2 points

Yup that's the plan: change colors when ever I want.

Finally someone who realizes it. It's a hybrid system so it only spins when it needs to and it NEVER turns on. So obviously it's properly cooled. Also the fan is facing up so dust? What dust?

  • 1 point

Negative comments are ridiculous in spite of this excellent build! Haters gon' HATE! The "hating" is a classic representation of concealed envy in disguised form. They hate you cause they ain't you!
