Description

After almost a year tinkering with my second build The "Game" Cube I learned that it was way to loud for me.

It sat on my desk and could I not concentrate on learning or working and even after I put it under my desk, I wasn't satisfied. So i had to do something. I looked for a new case and a beefier cooler, because the Thermalright AXP-200R wasn't cutting it (it was way to loud for the performance it deliverd).

List of new (to me) parts I decided to get:

  • Case
  • CPU Cooler
  • Graphics Card
  • RAM, because I always have Opera open with all my Tabs even when i play
  • Additional Fan so I could run two but at a slower speed

I sourced the parts and bought them in steps. First the RAM, because it was easy to get a hold of and the prices started to rise on DDR3 Memory. After that I got a MSI Radeon 470 but sold it after a few months. So I kept looking for a new Case, Video Card and CPU Cooler.

The case choice was pretty easy. I knew be quiet! had some of the best noise isolated cases so I got the be quiet! Silent Base 600 because the 800 was to big for my needs.

I had an eye on this MSI GTX 760 for a while because it was a complete package . It was a used Card but it had everything still in the box and the be quiet! Shadow Rock 2 Cooler i got also used, but it was never installed and even had the Label on the bottom of it that you should peel off before installing.

Thank you for reading.

Looks good +1.

Did you just build this? The build date is today, but your description seems to point to this being a quieting down, of an older build?

Thanks for the +1.

The finishing date was today. I got the Cooler today, and thought of it as it is finished now. I should have named it Game "Cube" Rebuild.

Does it still run Hitman at 1440p/41 fps?

Jep, in my eyes the CPU is bottlenecking a bit.

I am pretty happy you put the red sticks of ram in the red slots and black in the black +1

Only a Maniac would have done it otherwise. (I thought about doing it)

It's awesome looking. Too bad fm2 though. I've never had luck. Very nice looking build, you have great talent and eye for the detail on this one!!

Thank you for all the kindness.

I know FM2 is not the best nor the most modern socket generation, but i wanted to keep cost down and it is good enough for me.

The Game "Cube" was a black and red themed build so i kept some ideas from that PC.

My next build or rebuild will be a then new and modern socket.

Well as I do love it. I would use fm2 again but only for htpc or lighter use. I did a 860k with a 1050 ti build for a friend and it struggled so much. But the price was cheap and I didn't know what I was getting into.

I am perfectly fine with it. It does not run at 60 FPS but i could not care less about that.

The PC of my brother is also a FM2 build (my old pc and first build).
