Description

Hello, PCPartPicker! My name is Zephyr. I'm 12, and this was my first attempt, EVER, at a pc build. I had a pre built dell, but its performance was laughable at best. I chose my parts by availability and performance per dollar, and of course, deals. I live right next to a microcenter, so thats how I got the motherboard and the cpu so cheap. The cpu cooler, gpu, and fan were all purchased on black friday. I only had a few issues while building, which are as follows. 1: The standoffs. Oh my god were these difficult. All screws that came with the R5 were not labeled at all. it was the absolute worst experience of my life. 2: The CPU Cooler. It was so difficult that my dad had to physically hold it down, and cut himself in the process. Thanks dad, and I'm sorry about your finger. Other than that, the build has gone very smoothly. Thanks for checking out my build! :D EDIT: Added more photos.

Part Reviews

CPU

Great processor for the money. While its not a 5960x or even a 6700k, its a great processor.

CPU Cooler

Great CPU cooler, but a pain to install.

Motherboard

Good motherboard, although it does feel a bit flimsy.

Storage

FANTASTIC SSD. Great performance all around the table. While not bang for buck, it's samsung, reliable, and just plain fantastic.

Video Card

Great GPU. Very quiet, and very powerful at 1080p.

Case

Great case. Sturdy panels, excellent window, great cable management, and a reliable brand behind it. Did I mention how sexy it was?

Power Supply

Tier 1 unit, and I know its important not to skimp out on a psu. Stiff cables, but still a great PSU.

Case Fan

Good fan. Very quiet.

Monitor

Great monitor for the price. Excellent viewing angles, amazing contrast, beautiful colors, and of course, that bezel.

You have great quality parts here and nicely done with getting these prices. Hurray for Microcenter and Black Friday Sales~ I'm very sorry to hear your troubles with the motherboard stand offs, though for a first time builder this can be intimating or confusing when I recall my grandma's build. I seen so many now over the year that I don't need a manual to tell me what is it what but it's a bonus if there's anything marked these days.
With the CPU cooler with your dad cutting his finger. Ouchy, ouch. I tend to cut my fingers from the PCIe Slots of the case because they are so sharp that I cannot feel them. A good build, from what I can see. Thanks for sharing and enjoy! +1

Pretty good but a 390x is a bit much for a 1080p 60Hz monitor. I would have downgraded to a 390 and put the extra $100 into 144hz or 1440p. But a good build all in all.

You're not doing your 390x much justice with that 1080p 60hz monitor of yours, props for seeing the light and not going prebuilt!

Edit: Something funny though: we have the exact same cpu and gpu, I just have them crossfired lol!
