Description

This build is the coffee lake edition of my previous Poseidon 2.0 (https://pcpartpicker.com/b/GbpG3C).

Noteworthy modifications:

  • I drilled a hole for a bottom push-pull radiator
  • I attached a RGB-Strip to the reservoir
  • Swapped out the stock led strip of the EK Monoblock for an addressable one
  • Delidded 8700K
  • Reapplied thermal compound of the 1080Ti Poseidon
  • Basic black acrylic backplate for the elgato capture card
  • Custom sleeved cables
  • Fan grills are from www.jmmods.com
  • Swapped out all silver accuented covers/heatsink of the Z370 Strix-E with black ones of the Strix-F, I got from another build.

I knew I recognized the build! It's looking better than ever, although the pictures in the dark from the last build were quite striking. How do you like the Elgato HD Pro? Looking at that, the external S version, or a Razer Ripsaw, can't tell which is best from reviews.

Also what's your CPU voltage at? Have you OC'ed it?

Hey, thank you! :) I haven't tested the cpu's true capabilities yet. I am at 5GHz, 1.3 Volts now (GPU 2050MHz, 11500) and the system keeps quiet and cool. I got the elgato used for less than 90€ and I read it should be the best solution(?) for full hd recording. I am satisfied with it, but I am not a 'PRO' twitcher or 'lets player' and can't really tell which device to get^.

Safe to say I'm a fan and I've been following the progression of your build Poseidon haha. That's not bad most people can OC to 5.0 out of the box, I go mine de-lidded so I'll be trying to push 5.2 with a Corsair H110vi. thinking about getting a 360mm FD Celcius S36 for my new FD Define R6 for more cooling capabilities...we'll see. I'm pretty good at CoD WW2 and R6 Siege on xbox, and I play lots of ARK on xbxo play anywhere on my PC, so I was thinking maybe I could start streaming twitch or something and just hop between platforms, I hear streaming on xbox is real easy. Just looking for the right gear for pc at this point

Awesome build, just like the 2.0 version of it! +1

Please, add photos like the ones in the 2.0 version! It would look so much better if it was in a dark room!

I had to look at Poseidon 2.0 for more details and it's amazing how different it looks turned off in daylight vs on in darkness, it really comes alive. Awesome job on a consistent theme!

This thing is amazing! I really like the grills you threw in there! I would like to get some for my Corsair 750D case. Ar there covers I can get for the PSU? I'm assuming I would need that to get the grille. I just like the bottom part you have where it is nice, smooth, and covers up the unwanted wiring.

DANNNGGGG +1 Holy crap! What a build with a bold and beautiful theme! Not to mention, the components within this rig are absolutely devastating! One thing I would like to point out is that it says you paid $0.00 for your build --and hey if that's the case then you are one hell of a lucky guy right now hahaha. Another point I would like to mention is the GPU, that monster is sexy as hell and performs like, well, Poseidon himself! The colors that vibrantly pop all over your rig are spectacular (personally those are my favorite two colors within a pair)! In the end, this rig is well planned, and beautifully displayed as one full piece of work that not only showcases exceptional parts, but gives other builders motivation to step up their own game in building their rigs. ign 10/10 (If gamers didn't understand what everything I just wrote meant lol)

Very nice build! I have a similar build aswell that i built in November 2017, but i keep having issues with my temps, do you mind talking more in pm if you've had the same problems? I have the same case, same gpu and 8700k with Z370-F motherboard and also the same monoblock. When you delidded, did you remove the glue between the chip and the ihs? Does it still have good contact with the monoblock? I've also heard that you should leave the glue on because if you remove it you'll put too much pressure on the chip itself.

why did you downgrade from threadripper?

I never really took advantage out of all the cores and wanted to build a 2nd PC and needed the $/€ for it :D.

Hey how do you like that ASUS 1080 ti Poseidon? I’ve been thinking of using it in my own build

Beautiful build, well done! How is the Poseidon, is it good for overclocking? How do you drain your loop, because I see a drain valve on your pump but it is not your lowest point in your loop (which is the rad on the bottom, if im correct)?

Love the build man, I was wondering if you could tell me where you got your sleeved cables. I have been looking all over for white/black/gray cables but can only find white/black.
