Description

Incrementally upgraded 5 year old build. CPU and Ram are starting to show their age but over all its still fighting fit. CPU is OC at 4.6Ghz, tho it is not completely stable at this clock, good enough for gaming though. Recently got all RGB fanboi and wacked it all in a new case.

Next step is to get one of these new AMD Ryzen 7 3800X's and 16 GB DDR4 Corsair ram , and put it all in a solid new chipset Mobo in preparation for next years cyberpunk 2077.

Question for you guys tho. Upgrade as above? Or keep the aging chipset and get a RTX 2080 Ti? I'm pretty sure it would bottle neck the GPU it if I did that so wasn't really planning that path, but value input. Also I can't do both! LOL

3700x + decent 240/280/360mm or 140mm tower cooler + OC + decent mobo (should start at around 200-300$) then in the future get Zen 2+

try to got with and rtx 2070 or 2080. The RTX 2080 ti is so expensive its alomost just like throwing away money at this point for some better fps. I think you should upgrade to the ryzen 3800X because the GTX 1080 is still a fantastic graphics card

Nice build, I am in a similar situation to you my cpu is an i5 6400 and my gpu is a gtx 1070. I also plan to upgrade to the new ryzen chips but what I want to know is if my gtx 1070 will be able to play cyberpunk 2077 high at 2560x1080.

Thats a really good looking setup! I would say go the 2080Ti route first and check the performance. Also, is the cat USB powered?

Nice Build!

If I were you i would leave the 1080 as it is if you want to save money, and get the ryzen 7 3rd gen and The ram. I’m going to be getting a pc with the ryzen 7 3800X and Navi(or a 2070)

If you want i can give you link so you can download more ram. :D

You’re welcome, that 4th gen i5 with the 1080 is the definition of bottleneck, always glad to have someone join team red XD
