Description

  • I decided to fit my new beast into my old cheap Sharkoon case
  • The case was slightly modded (removed all drivebays)
  • Used to play, record and stream VR mixed reality content, and some flat games like CS:GO :)
  • an example of one of my MR VR Streams on this beast can be found here

That is some Damn good cable management!

To be honest its just some velcro's and cramming all the other cables behind the mainboard mounting plate :P

Just take some time for it. and dont feel bad for starting over 2 3 or more times because you didnt like it. Patience is key :)

So, you recommend going for the Corsair Liquid CPU Cooler over the Wraith Max CPU Cooler you get with the CPU?

Aftermarket coolers are better than stock ones.

Wel... It depends.. If you just want a small gain from PBO the wraith is just fine. However I was allready spending more because i needed a mainboard and new ssd/psu.. and I liked to see where PBO can take me.. but did not want to invest in a custom loop for this case :)

I'm new to Ryzen (comming from team blue) but allready managed to beat my initial benchmarks by setting the memory to 3733 however i do believe that proper cooling allows PBO to push further :)

I hope this helps.

Someone on NewEgg said the GFX card covers the Taichi's USB-C header making it impossible to use the USB-C header. Did you have any troubles with that?

My Sharkoon case doesnt have that fancy IO :) So I dont use it.

However looking at this picture I would say YES!

tbh, i was worried more about the GPU coverring the NB Fan. however temps seem to behave.

If it becomes a problem I can always move the GPU down a slot :)

What's the slowest you can go with OBS x264? slow? slower? veryslow?

With a 12 core you don't really need NVENC on this machine.

I Honestly I never used x264 since NVENC doesnt impact the GPU at all. and my previous setup (i7 3770K) didnt like it at all! Might give it a go; but I kind of like my current settings allready (I put a stream example in the build description).

For streaming, x264 with a slower preset is generally better.

I'll give it a try when I have the chance :)

How do you like the ASRockm X570 Taichi? I was going to buy this one for my new rig but heard some horror stories about over heating, shutting itself off, and even the VRM catching fire. I don't know if that is due to people trying to overclock and not knowing how to or if the boards are faulty. Thanks! Great looking build btw!!

The board is just fine. The position of the chipsetfan had me worried for a bit but it's not getting hot or anything :) No fires either :')

I've even been OCing with it and improved my benches without too much added heat. (see the updated build desc. for results).
