I wanted a budget gaming computer. I wanted Intel because after its no longer useful for games I can run Linux or FreeBSD (yes those OSs run on AMD but Intel drivers in Linux seem to work a bit better as of today). I reused lots of old parts like a GPU, case, and power supply. It is crazy loud. I want to replace the GPU, case, case fans, PSU, and CPU cooler. I am confused as to why it's so loud. It's like a jet engine. I think something might be broken. I think its the CPU cooler. I will investigate.
Seems like my temps are way better than they need to be. Perhaps I can use something simple like a tuned fan curve.
GPU load test was done in Doom. CPU load test was done in Aida64.
Update: So I spent some time, investigating the noise. It was the CPU fan + the case fans. I went into bios and set them all to silent. Problem mostly solved
AsRock was timely to release a BIOS/UEFI fix for the Intel ME vulnerability. I am very impressed by that.
As far as the board goes, it gets the job done. The BIOS/UEFI is pretty good (the UI/UX is intuitive). This is a good board for someone looking to get into Coffee Lake.
