Description

Title is an exaggeration but I do get many "why do you need to keep changing things?" questions asked. This is my latest iteration of my main pc that I use for work and gaming. My work is simple customer service from home so my build is incredibly more than competent. Prices listed are what I paid and are explained below. This build has taken many months buying an item here and an item there to come to the finish. My potato phone isn't the best for pics but that's all I have. I apologize if I'm a bit wordy but I try my best to explain my parts, how I received them, and why. I hope you all enjoy!

Monitor #1 AMH A399U UHD 39.5" 4k PLS Bought after watching TekSyndicate's video regarding this monitor. For the price it's hard to argue the performance. I absolutely love it. My only complaint is there is a bit of glare. There is a pane of tempered glass that is removable, but I'll keep it as is.

Monitor #2 Samsung SyncMaster 204b Purchased off of my local craigslist. Strictly for a second screen to put non important things up while working, browsing online, or gaming.

Corsair H50 Liquid CPU Cooler This is used with the NZXT Kraken G10 and XFX R9 390X Short tubes made positioning difficult with the rest of the build. In a push pull configuration. Price after promo code and mail in rebate from Newegg.com

NZXT Kraken G10 GPU Cooling Bracket Bought off of /r/hardwareswap. Fan is a 92mm Noctua. Loved it thus far.

EDIT 04/22/17 Current hardware installed

Part Reviews

CPU

Bought at Micro Center. I sold the motherboard originally purchased with the processor. It's been great as expected. Right now it's at 4.4GHz. I have not tried to push it further.

CPU Cooler

I received this from Corsair after having to send back two H60s for failure. So far it's been great and much more quiet compared to the H60. Running in push/pull.

Storage

Black Friday sale price. Better performance than my other SSD. Glad I bought.

Storage

Price is explained in a previous build here. It's good for what it is but not worth full price. Still better than a traditional hard drive.

Storage

I made a mistake on this purchase. I bought off of jet.com using a $15 off $50 promo code. I saw the 5 year warranty in the description and bought immediately. I did not read the actual model number. This model does carry that warranty but is noisy. I bought this due to the below drive starting to act weird. Not a great purchase, but not bad.

Case

Here at pcpartpicker.com we've seen plenty of these. That is exactly what led me to buying this. Build quality is top notch and super simple to work with. Very happy with the purchase. Price after using promo code with jet.com

Power Supply

This was purchased because at the time I originally did crossfire 290X this was the best option available. The G1600 received a favorable review by Johnnyguru.com so I pulled the trigger. Price after Newegg.com promo code and mail in rebate.

Optical Drive

Yes I occasionally burn a cd or dvd. For the price why not.

Mouse

Bought from frys.com during a promo (sign up for their email!). While it does not have too many programmable buttons, the price was right and the comfort is great. Glad to have it.

Headphones

Bought from Gamestop after a promo and coupon. I'm not a big audiophile but these cans are comfortable and provide great sound.

Speakers

Given to me from Micro Center from a mistake from my very first purchase. Again, great customer service from MC!

+1 for 2 reasons: -Raid 2, great flick! Short on story, but the choreography more than makes up for it. -Solid looking build too.

And don't worry, my gf is the same way. She's always frowning when I bring a new part home. Then again, I know how she feels everytime she brings an animal home so that makes us even.

A lot of people say Redemption is better but I prefer 2. I really like the story and the action is just incredible. That fight scene (wallpaper) was so incredible.

Yes I was very excited to receive it for the price. I tested xm blues and they were too clicky for me. I really lucked out on the purchase.

My wife does not approve of my obsession.

Wonder why...

Are we going to see some changes in 3 months? lol

Your wife may not approve but I do. +1 for the watercooled 390X. Those things get HOT.

Yes they do! I ran the Asus before I received the XFX and it would easily get up to 92c. I may add another Kraken/H50 down the line. Performance has been incredible at 4k with applicable games.

Great build man! I might get the same sleeved cables. These are the extensions right? I might get those or the full EVGA G2 red/black kit.

How was it installing the g10? thinking about buying it for my xfx 390 but i have two concerns : one will i be able to install it with a back plate, i know you did but did you do any thing to make it work and i have heard that there are vram heating problems, do you have these and did you install (or think about) heat sinks for the vram.

love the way it looks and thanks for all the help +1

Installation was very easy and I've never installed a Kraken G10 before. Very glad to keep the backplate on. So far no issues with Vram. I'll keep monitoring though.

Did you have to buy any special mounting hard ware to install it?

Have you been having any heat issues with the vram of the g10? did you need to use shim? i also own an xfx 390 and im thinking about watercooling it myself. Thanks

one more thing: you used the h50 with the g10, correct?

No heat issues and I just used what the card came with and the G10. And yes I'm using the H50 with it. Only thing I dislike about the H50 is short tubing but for $40 after rebate I really can't complain.
