Description

I primarily game on this build, but also do your general internet browsing, and light video editing. The thing is lightning fast, it boots up in 10 sec, it was super quite until I added the SilenX IXP-76-18 fans, which are not super loud, but they are not quiet. I put up with their noise because they blow a hell of a lot of air! I do not have pics with them installed, but I did edit one showing where I placed them. I love this computer, every penny I put into it was worth it.

Future upgrades will be an H100i, 1 more monitor, an quite possibly a third. When I put the H100i in I will improve cable management! ;P

Part Reviews

Case

Large solid case capable of much airflow. Motherboard tray CPU cut out is badly placed for my processor.

Monitor

Inexpensive, decent inputs, no dead pixels after four years. Viewing angles are as expected for a TN panel.

Monitor

Solid 144hz panel for a reasonable price with your average TN viewing angles. After three years the Display Port input has failed and one dead pixel surfaced.

Monitor

Great monitor for a semi-competitive gamer who is tired of 1080p and 24" screens. Good viewing angles, nice stand, magnificent OSD controls, all the inputs, above average 75hz. Very flexible monitor.

Headphones

Inexpensive indestructible headset.

I thought that, until I saw what kind of stuff people with custom water cooling loops were doing... O.o

All that money on parts and your using the standard cooler? Can i ask why

I said I would get an H100i in a few months, I didn't have the spare $100 to fork over for one.

I did read that part, just not sure why 16 gb of ram plus silent fans were a priority over efficient cooling. Like buying a muscle car without tires.

Anyhow nice build GG

Because RAM is necessary for operation, an aftermarket cooler was not. As for the fans I just installed those a few days ago.

I was just about to ask that also, why the stock cooler? This build doesn't deserve to be stock cooled, it will also make it quieter!

I might, I would like to, but we will see how my budget reacts to that at the time when I choose...

It makes the build so much nicer, for 350 more it is the best improvement. It adds a new dimension to games.

I saw you come up with a build for someone, and I gotta say, the alternating colors of RAM you use are pretty neat.

What 7970 is it? Tell me your thoughts on it please! How much was it?

The Asus Matrix 7970. Easily the most insane 7970 money can buy, although the Sapphire one with 6GB VRAM is nuts too. Triple slot, amazing heasink and fans, with the fans on 50% (2200RPM) at 100% load you will never see over 60C, and the card is at 1.1Ghz, 6.6Ghz memory out of the box. It is the sexiest looking 7970 IMO. You would be hard pressed to get your hands on one, I got mine as an open box on eBay for $470. It was a very limited edition card. The closest you could get to is the Asus 7970 DC II, which are as expensive as a 680, and harder to find than most 7970s. I love the card. Most powerful single GPU that is reasonably priced.

So far 0 problems with it.
