Description

This is my setup for streaming console video games. I have not moved to pc gaming but that is ultimately the goal. I stream for NHF. No Hard Feelins. We are a gaming communuty/clan. We stream on twitch, for games such as doom, mortal kombat, injustice 2, battlefield 1, rainbow six siege, dark souls, NBA 2k, madden and fifa 17. I've been streaming from console for about a year and needed to upgrade. I was tired of having to end my stream every time I wanted to switch games. Streaming from OBS will solve this problem while also allowing me to include stream overlays and transitions. I also need a computer that can handle video and photo editing to maintain a YouTube channel. I must say THIS Is MY FIRST BUILD. Never built a computer before and thought this would be a good start. Hope you enjoy and be sure to check out my stream on twitch @ NHFHarmFuLL. I will be hosting fundraiser streams to help fund a second nhf computer for the other clan leader that will also be added on PC Partpicker. Anybody that would like to donate spare parts money or advice can reach me via email @ dhrose20@gmail.com.

Part Reviews

CPU

8 cores. 16 threads. This is a beast of a chip. Can be oc'ed to 4.0. My only complaint is that ryzen cpus have gold pins that easily bend or break. Trying to take off the wraith spire cpu cooler after it had been installed proved fatal to my ryzen cpu chip, which got stuck to the bottom of the cpu fan cooler and bent when separated. This meant I had to buy another chip. Keep in mind that if you break off pins In the motherboard sockets, you risk the chance 0f killing the motherboard or causing it not to post. Ryzen has over 1000 pins. Be sure not to bend any.

CPU Cooler

Thought this would be hard to install. I was wrong. This was 10 times easier to install than the included cpu wraith spire cooler that had spring loaded screws. Anybody doing semi heavy workloads or gameloads on ryzen should want to water-cool their cpu. This came with the am4 bracket that was needed to fit my cpu and mother board out the box.

Motherboard

Best b350 motherboard according to me. Also the sexiest. Underrated. Hard to understand why there are not a lot of reviews for this product. Motherboard feels a lil flimsy but held up just fine. INCLUDED ASUS AURA on mb. One of the best sound codecs you can get. Even in the 370 range.

Memory

Not as flashy as some of the rgb memory sticks but definitely doesn't hurt to look at. Great price point considering the MARKET right now.

Storage

Ive Never had storage in this form factor before. No wires/cables. Super Fast.. easy installation. I recommend for 1st time builders who do not know how to cable manage to keep things tidy.

Video Card

Did not want this card. Did not want Nvidia either. Waiting on the market for AMD cards. Thanks Ethereum. However...I do like Asus ROG Strix and I think this gpu looks really nice , especially with the rgb ROG symbol. 5 stars for Asus. 3 for NVIDIA. You want this card if you gsync and/ or if you want 1080p around 60fps.

Case

Phanteks makes some of the best cases. 2 included rgb strips. Plenty of space. Psu shroud. Fully customizable. Seemed hard to get used to at first...but again I was a first timer. After a hour, I knew this case in and out. Real Simple. Already has wires pre-routed. Cable management velcro straps. Will say that the included screws were less than ideal. I had about 5 screws that were almost stripped upon arrival. Luckily I had purchased a 45pc Rosewill toolkit that had extra screws of the same size.

Power Supply

Got this at a great price. Really like the included cables. Very versatile as it has connections for multiple gpu/ cpu setups. Fully Modular. A lot of room for peripherals. Cables are long enough for most mid towers.

Case Fan

Amazing, great quality fans with a nice purple hue. The best purple you can find. Wish they would push more air. 3 pin fan connector,

Monitor

Great Quality 4k. No HDR support but that is common in MONITORS. Good for single monitor setups. Would suggest a monitor with less trim around the edges for multi monitor setups. Got this on an Amazon flash sale for $269.99. REG price is $399.99 1 4k hdmi at 60fps. 1 4k hdmi @30fps. 1 DP @ 60 fps.

Did the cat come with RGB as well? And is it overclockable?

It is def overclockable. Just apply a little bit of catnip directly around the nostril area.

More importantly, how much? Component seems to be omitted from the part list.

I'm sorry but I'm a little confused as to why your motherboard power cable isn't routed through the grommet right next to where the connection is. Also what is the spire doing just chilling there?

Anyways great build!

Jesus, I'm not super anal about cable tucking, but damn the locale of those cables drives me nuts

the cable IS routed through the grommet. At the time of the picture, I had not pulled the slack on the cord. That's not the entire spire. I separated the spire fan from the heatsinks and hung it where I liked it.

Would the 1050ti bottleneck the Ryzen 7 1700. As it is considered a entrance level GPU

I only bought the 1050 ti bc there was no amd gpu available. Obviously due to cryptocurrency. Right now I only plan on streaming from console via a capture card. When more AMD gpus are available, I will buy one and update pc part picker. This is why I already have a 4k monitor with freesync capabilities.

And Yes, the 1050 ti is an entrance level gpu in my personal opinion. But it can play your games at 1080p and around 60 fps depending on the load. Just keep in mind that with ryzen, you would want to game at 1440p or 4k bc its performance is better in that area.

Yeah, I too am confused... Whats going on with your stock cooler fan just zip tied there?

If your looking for advise, I see this is your first build..... Clean up your cables, ditch the AMD cpu fan you have dangling, and i'd move the front fans up higher. Just to allow air to push in a little better. Enjoy ur first build and ur streaming!

Also think about a push/pull on that radiator

I actually took the pics before rewiring the cables and closing the case. I plan on adding another phanteks fan to the front so there will be a total of three. The only reason the fan is there is for the rgb circle. I liked the affect. Push/ pull is the best advice yet. Thanks

I had to buy another ryzen 1700 bc the first one was damaged during assembly while putting on the stock wraith spire cooler. I upgraded to a h60 corsair aio bc I didn't want to make the same mistake again. This meant that I had TWO stock wraith spire coolers just laying around. So I separated the rgb fan from the heatsink and hung it in my case. I hung the wraith spire fan because the screw holes are not standard and would not fit in the areas of my case I originally intended.

How was updating the bios and did you overclock your ram?

  • 1 point

updating the bios was easy. overclocking can be a bit tricky to get past 3.9

Can you overclock with this motherboard? If so how easily can it be done?

you can overclock with this board. however the most improvement I achieved with this current build was from3.0g to 3.8g.
