Description

I introduce you to the Price to Performance Powerhouse!

This PC build was for a friend of mine who is just switching to PC gaming from an Xbox 360. He mainly got this for iRacing, CSGO, Minecraft, and Rocket League. He was stoked when I surprised him with it at his house today, and of course him just seeing a custom PC for the first time IRL, all he wanted to do is play with the LEDs in it. I eventually got him to install Steam and download Rocket League, and he was glued to his chair for the rest of the day.

"How the Did You Get Those Prices?"

The one thing that I am really surprised with is the prices I was able to get on these parts. My friend told me that he wanted to spend less than $500, and he was REALLY happy when I was able to give him an extra $100 bill back with his new PC.

For the CPU and motherboard, there was a deal at Fry's for an i3-6300 and an MSI H110M Gaming Motherboard for $144, but they sold out of the motherboard. Thankfully, the nice gentleman working there went and got me B150 Bazooka and told me he'll give me the same price as if it were the other motherboard.

For the SSD and Memory, all we did was price match with Amazon and Newegg instead of paying the in-store price.

For the Case, I was also able to price match with Amazon and drop $20 off of the original $80, then there was a mail-in-rebate after that bringing the price down to $40 after a price match and MIR.

For the Graphics Card and Power Supply, I was able to but the GPU off of OfferUp for $100 and was able to buy my brother's old power supply off of him for $20.

Quick Tip; Take advantages of MIR's, in-store Price Matches and CPU and Motherboard Combos :)

Now for the Actual PC Review

The one big thing I have to say about this computer is Price to Performance. I personally wasn't able to benchmark the PC for myself, but I did a lot of research on the newest generation of i3 CPU's, and heard that they can handle most modern games on high settings with a Decent graphics card. When I was watching my friend play Rocket League, he was able to be on Ultra settings averaging 50-60 fps easily. Now I wait until he gets his racing wheel and plays iRacing with it and see how that goes.

There wasn't a single problem with building this computer. The installation process was relatively easy and simple. I really can't complain with the prices that I got on the parts.

If you have any questions or comments, please leave them below, and thanks for looking at my newest build!

Part Reviews

CPU

Got this and the Motherboard for a great price, I've heard no complaints yet!

Motherboard

Great budget-oriented motherboard. Has everything needed for this PC and some more!

Memory

I mean, it's RAM, it's fast, and I got it for a good price so...

Storage

Quick Boot-up times, very responsive, and launches games really quickly. No complaints here.

Video Card

Also got this for a steal, can't complain for the price I paid for it!

Case

A great case for the price I was able to obtain. Has a power supply shroud, enough room for cable management, and 5 really quiet pre-installed fans, which are ALL molex powered.. but I cant complain. My only complaint is that the side panel window is really easy to scratch, i rubbed my sweatshirt sleeve on the top-right corner and it's all scuffed now. But no other issues besides that.

Power Supply

Also got this for a great price. It has ketchup and mustard cables, non-modular, has an ugly color and oddly short cable lengths, but it gets the job done.

How did you deal with the molex powered fans?

I just plugged them into the power supply. Most of them had pass-thru's so I daisy-chaned them together in one spot,

Nice job! But I feel like you could've given him a hard drive and a $50 bill instead of nothing and an $100 one. Unless he didn't need one?

He only plays iRacing and Rocket League, so he doesn't need much more space

Ah, Ok. That makes sense!
