Description

1 bad mobo and a bad stick of ram later, we have my dream build. My goal was simple, PERFECT gaming experience. This was achieved by a way too powerful computer and a god-like WQHD 165hz G-sync monitor. A build that costs as much as a car has to be as fun as one. Funny enough, the most expensive single part of this build was not even a computer part, it was my main monitor. $800 for this beast. I wanted to actually use the full potential of my PC. My second monitor is a the more "modest" MG248 1080p 144hz monitor, that has the same design as my PG279Q so it keeps the theme going.

Now, since this was my first build there were of course some things that I wish I did differen't. First, I wish I had went with a tempered glass case, this acrylic is horrid. Second, I wish I went with a fully modular power supply so I could use all of my cable mod cables instead of just the ones connected to the graphics card. Third, I have ridiculously long hands, so I wish I had went for a longer and heavier mouse. But the corsair scimitar "pro" rgb is still pretty damn amazing. I love all its buttons and its quality.

Thank you for anyone that reads this through, I enjoyed writing it and sharing my build with everyone.

Thanks, Evan

Could've gotten a fully modular PSU with the same wattage for the same price :/, but great build!

Yeah, I will probably do that very soon. I have a ton of cablemod cables that are being wasted without it.

Can you tell me what you don't like about the acrylic? I have only ever worked with acrylic and didn't seem to mind it but in the age of tempered glass I wouldn't mind a different perspective, thanks. Also great build!

The acrylic is just so darn easy to scratch. And it is not as clear as I would like it to be. Thanks!

I side by this. I'm looking into buying some acrylic polisher to "remove" or fill in the scratches on my side panel's window to give it that "I just unboxed it" look. This doesn't look so bad: https://www.amazon.com/NOVUS-7100-Plastic-Polish-Kit/dp/B002UCYRZU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487280520&sr=8-1&keywords=Acrylic+polish

Hey Evan, just to give you some suggestions for future upgrades.

https://pcpartpicker.com/list/PCWcVY

This will be a quick and damn clean way to get better cooling and that sexy tempered glass look. Got no complaints on anything else; however, if you do get the 570x look into,

https://www.amazon.com/VELCRO-Brand-Black-2-Inch-91140/dp/B001E1Y5O6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1487269536&sr=8-1&keywords=velcro%2Bstraps&th=1

Just to clean up the back because thats glass too. Also look for some ways to clean up your cables under your desk, what i did was buy

https://www.amazon.com/Management-Sleeve-JOTO-Computer-Entertainment/dp/B015HWXG4M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1487273114&sr=8-3&keywords=cable+management

and

Just to make everything nice and tidey. Just some notes, next time you use a rad make sure you put it in the front, it provides better cooling for all components. Thats really it man, you got my +1 and i am looking forward to future updates!

How would placing the radiator in the front provide better cooling for all components? Blowing warm air into the case surely cant be better than blowing cool air in.

I know this was a while ago, but I actually moved my rad to the front and the two front fans to the top and BOTH my CPU and GPU temps were lowered. Obviously, the CPU was a lot cooler, but the GPU was also 5-10 degrees Celsius cooler under load. My mind is blown.

You have been bathed in the water of radiators. May Gabens light penetrate your soul as he gifts you with lower temps and higher frames.

Hey man I really like your setup. I'm thinking about buying a second monitor as well. I actually have the same PG279Q that you own. I don't know too much about dual monitors, but is it possible to run the 1440 monitor at its 144 hz/native res and the 1080 monitor at its native res? Thanks in advance

If I had known that there was rgb tridentz ram before I started the build that would've been my choice. I'll have to survive without ram lights until next build ;)
