Description

Grew up playing competitive video games and always had to settle for the cheapest, best 'bang for the buck' builds.

Although only play competitive Overwatch, wanted to build a somewhat overkill rig to live out that childhood dream.

Lots of help from youtube (bitwit, Paul's Hardware, etc), buildapc reddit, and pcpartpicker.

CPU: Not a crazy overclocker, but wanted to hit 5.0 easily. Bought a pre-binned 5.1 from Silicon Lottery and paid de-lidding as well. Currently at 5.0 @ 1.35v comfortably.

CPU Cooler: The Kraken x62 was the reason I wanted to start this build. Never was into AIO or anything water for that matter, but it just looked too beautiful to not get.

Motherboard: Wanted to get the Formula for its integrated I/O shield, but settled on the CODE. No other reason besides looks.

Memory: Wanted four sticks of dominator plats with alternating LED bars from blue/white.

Storage: Don't need much storage unlike a lot of users. Wanted to get the fastest within reason.

GPU: This was the second deal breaker in addition to the Kraken x62. Needed the EVGA FTW3 no matter what. I think EVGA hands down looks better than any other manufacturer out there. Just my opinion of course.

Case: Wavered between the NZXT s430 Elite but decided to get the Enthoo Evolv with Tempered Glass. Haven't looked back, it's been a joy to work with.

PS: EVGA SuperNOVA P2 850W with custom Cablemods sleeved cables with cablecombs. Not much to say here except it's a rock solid brick.

Fans: 2x Noctua NF-A14 Industrial 3000's for pulling on the x62 radiator. 3x NZXT Aer RGB140's for the RGB goodness. NZXT's Hue+ and internal USB stick to combine it all.

All in all, it was a joyful process. I spend time just staring into the case still. Pictures don't do it justice. Hope you guys enjoyed this post.

I got lucky. I originally ordered an SC2 because I didn't know when the FTW3 would be available. I kept checking instocktracker for either Amazon or Newegg and voila it was in stock. Immediately bought it with my heart pumping.

Nice build. Did you have the monitor already? Cause this build is tailor made for 4k

Monitor is a carryover from my 144hz fps days. Looking for a new monitor, but still not sold on anything yet. Any recommendations?

I recommend the ASUS ROG Swift pg348q. It's amazing. It's what dreams are made of. Although I transferred from a 720p 23 inch tv..

Looks so nice and amazing. Sometimes, I wish I wasn't such a stickler for 144hz with first person shooters. Would expand my horizons to these amazing monitors..

This is such a beautiful build, and so overkill. Also so clean and organized (from the front view anyway), deserves more upvotes. But take my +1, it's all I have.

That's a great looking build. I was also looking at this case and Kraken x62. Could you explain your fan choice decision? So the 2 noctuas are placed directly in front of the x62 fans and are pulling air in the case? And the 3 NZXTs are all exhaust?

Thanks man, very happy with the choices of the parts.

You're exactly right. Noctua's are pulling fresh air mounted on the case and the radiator. all 3 nzxt's are exhaust and it's been working like a charm.

Thanks! You're exactly right. Noctua's are placed between the front of the case and the radiator pulling in fresh air. All 3 nzxt's are exhausting the hot air.

I've always wanted noctua's since everyone said they were the best. Probably wouldn't make much of a difference between the stock nzxt's with the kraken, but I wanted an excuse to buy them.

Re: nzxt fans, I wanted rgb capability and thought they were the best looking out of the competitors. Pretty easy choice for me.

Awesome! Thanks for the reply. Have also read good things about Noctuas and am also considering them.
