So this is the build I'm still working on. I haven't purchased everything for it yet, and I have a 770 4GB in there right now, instead of that 1080ti. Built it, because I'm a 3D artist, who uses Blender (open source 3d software), and my retired internet cafe toaster wasn't cutting it. Bought this piece by piece, and finally got the build operational last November. Absolutely a powerhouse for multi-core workloads.... In rendering, the CPUs are getting almost the same speeds as a 1070, and they outperform a 6700k :) I only have one stick of ram in it at the moment, but I'm looking forward to adding 3 more, to get it up to 32 GBs of RAM. I also am looking to triple my hard drive space, but that's not a necessity. The 1080ti will be my next upgrade, then the RAM, then the monitor (the Ben-Q), followed by the keyboard, webcam, and hdd.... Although since the keyboard and webcam are so cheap, I may buy them at any time. The rig isn't pretty on the inside, and honestly, if you are looking for something to put leds in don't get that ram, and dont get that mobo... I went for those because they were the cheapest at the time (although I paid twice what the motherboard costs now... lol), and I wasn't concerned with looks. All in all, it's a terrific rig. I don't do any gaming, so no idea how it benchmarks there. I never tried cinebench, or 3d marks test either. And I don't recommend it if you need single core performance. Just get an 1800x or 7700k (maybe a 6700k, but if you're going to get that, might as well just get a i5 7600k, since it's cheaper, and has similar performance).
Terrific CPU, especially when you have two of them. Don't buy it unless you need multiple cores though. I'm a Blender artist, and these puppies render almost as fast as a 1070 :D
Terrific fans... I have a server PC, and I do a lot of heavy rendering on my two CPUs... Never seen my CPUs go above 40C, and they average about 29C :)
Decent motherboard. Ugly as can be, but it does the job on my two CPUs. I actually have the one which isn't 4L/D16, with the only difference being, I can only hold half as much RAM.
It's decent.... I need to buy a few more sticks, but no issues so far :)
This is a really good hard drive :) No issues in the 6 months I've had it :)
This case fell from heaven. Made it super easy on me, for my first PC build. Wire management was a breeze... It supports everything... Love it!
Great power supply for the money. I've had no problems with it so far :) Owned it for 6 months :)
Seems to have issues with Linux, where the contrast is really low... And 1080p on a 27" display, means you can see all the pixels... Bonus points for how it handles menus though :D
Awesome headset!!! Handles sound really well, and the vibration is really cool :) I don't like loud music, so I don't feel the vibration very often. Also, it seems a wee bit quite compared to other headsets, so if you like to deafen yourself, might want to consider something else. Otherwise it's just fine. And no worries, you'll be able to hear all those quiet youtube videos just fine ;)
