Description

An X99 build for gaming, streaming, and video editing built by my eight year old son. He did a fantastic job building this rig. I helped put in the CPU; he did the rest. I wanted to give him a more future proof build, so I went with X99. I am looking forward to him getting his channel going. Overall I am happy with the project.

A $2700 pc for the guy's 8 year old son... what a lucky kid. I wonder if the OP realizes that z97 is still futureproof for at least the next four years...

It's of my understanding his son built the pc, and the submitter "helped" installing the CPU, but the PC is mostly going to be used by both , father and son don't get me wrong but I am sure OP's son will be a great computer cience engineer.

It's not my problem what you do with your money, but damn. Sick build, will definitely run for many years. Also I only see one GPU in the first picture?

I had to wait to pick up the second. He is putting it in today. I am disappointed that the backplates are sold separate.

Also very impressive for an 8 year old, I was 14 when I did my first build. What does he play to use that PC?

Lol@the amount of jealousy. But back to the topic, very nice build. Curious though, why are there 2 cards listed, but only one in the picture? Cheers.

I truly hope you have good parenting, because after he finds out worth of this pc, or figures youll get stuff for him at any given notice, hell turn rotten. The same thing happened to my brother, and we cant straighten him out.

1 - you don't need that much ssd space get 1 of those. 2 - get a combined hdd not 2 1 TB 3 - get a gtx 980 instead of sli 970 But overall it's a nice build enjoy

Wow man kudos to that kid and as far as I am concerned money well spent. I'm telling you right now if I feel my son can build a rig of this nature at 8 I'd buy it for him to. Not for love or bonding time but for the future which half of you are so clouded your missing this point. That kid may grow up to engineer the baddest tech you have ever seen and then you'll be thanking him. Good job dad keep him involved if it's a passion it's a future proof job sector.

Awesome build. I don't understand why people have to get jealous of others builds. Is it overkill for an 8 Y.O? Yes. But that does not mean that you should all get angry because this 8 Y.O has something better than you. Different people choose different with their money. Some make more than others. Either accept it or do something about it, don't sit here and call this man an awful parent because he gave his hard earned money to his kid to make him happy.

Lol the kid is 8. You think he knows what $3,000 is? Much less when its in a metal box in front of him? The builder did not buy anyone's love. Everyone's raised differently, respect that and look at it with an open mind. Justin Beiber drives a car that is worth more than you. That's life, again, accept it or change it.

The $3000 wasn't spent on the computer, obviously. It was spent on father-son quality time.

+1 for good parenting!

Slow down there, how does this kid know how much this thing actually costs? He's 8, and as long as he doesn't get the idea that he get whatever he wants, then its ok. I say it is better to spend $2700 on something that provides UTILITY and can open up a future for him than spend $400+ on an iphone or ipad like 90% of the useless parents are doing these days.

If his 6 year old son wants to start a career on youtube and build a computer that will render videos, don't you think that's something positive to invest in?
