Description

  • "Meditation, it rejuvenates you?"

  • "Indeed it does"

  • "I suggest you try Borg regeneration. It's much more efficient"

Paul's roommate wanted a PC in order to replace his outdated rig and after seeing the build that I had created for Paul (Fuar Speir), he was immediately on-board. His desire for a new PC only grew stronger each time Fuar Speir would boot in less than 10 seconds. He also wanted to be game ready for the latest releases and I was ready to help him reach the glorious land of PCMR.

This was actually a rare build for me as I never once spoke to the client in person, over the phone, or through email. Instead, all of his requests were relayed through Paul. Here were his requirements:

  • Lots of USB ports for the front of the case.

  • Green and black color scheme.

  • Fast bootup.

  • Unrestricted processing power for future projects.

  • Great gaming performance at 1080p.

Could I have picked a better client myself? After learning of the aforementioned build goals, I immediately went to work on the part list and came back with a quote. He wired the money to me via Paypal on Sunday and I was able to deliver the PC to him by Friday. At one point, the estimated finish date was so fast that Paul's roommate told him, "Don't have him rush because I want it to look good." Paul had replied, "Oh you just wait and see." This build had a very fast turnaround time but I did not sacrifice on cable management, nor did I rush out and buy unfavorable parts just because they were in stock. If it weren't for a few delayed shipments and a hold on the bank transfer, I would have had this build completed and game-ready by Wednesday. Regardless, I handed it off to Paul at work and he then took it home to his roommate. After this baby was delivered, he gave it the name "Seven", and I added this page to my book of successful builds.

Thanks PCPP!

The title just sucked me in. Reminded me of the good old days where me and my brother used to binge-watch Star Trek Voyager.

Extremely clean and efficient, like Seven herself. Will you be going for the 1070 Founders' Edition anytime soon ?

Thank you! This build was actually made prior to the Pascal release, otherwise I would have just went with that GPU. Drats! It's a shame when that happens.

Nice! When are you planning on uploading that build? I love mini ITX builds.

Slowly getting the parts for it, I just finished my Micro ATX system but the itx will use the 100me 970 in a Silverstone fortress FTZ0i1 case ( I have the case) :) I don't have an ETA just yet though :)

I never liked the cooler. Would like to see a Cryorig H7 or a BeQuiet Dark Rock 3 in there.
Otherwise top score. +1

I completely agree with you here. It was more of a last minute addition as I had quoted the client wrong. I gave him a price but didn't factor in a few price fluctuations. I didn't even make money off of this build. In fact, I spent $30 over budget just to finalize a few small touches. If I had the room, I surely would have included the Dark Rock 3. That thing is pure gold!

Thanks for the +1

Yeah, I am not a crazy fan either but I do remember watching some very old Star Trek with my dad when I was a little boy. I feel as though I may actually like it if I sat down and watched it though.

Haha!! Excellent way to intrigue someone. Yes, I do accept the challenge. In fact, I'm more motivated to watch a strangers suggestion than I am when someone I know makes a suggestion.
