My first PC build! . My sole requirement was to run the latest games (mainly Gears of War 4) on max settings at 1080p 60fps. Wanted a clean, black and white look, and didn't want to break the bank on a new PC. Overall, very satisfied with my build. I built this in early November.
Note: Prices are in SGD(I'm from Singapore!), which is about USD1300 total. Parts here are generally more expensive- I bought some parts from Amazon and shipped it over, the rest locally. I was heavily inspired by Wolf88's build: https://pcpartpicker.com/b/TNXH99. Thanks!
Not much to say, works as expected. Ultimately, I chose not to overlock as it was pretty unnecessary for my needs- I would have had to spend more for a z170 mobo and a aftermarket cooler too.
Works totally fine and looks great too. No issues with the onboard wifi so far
8GB is aplenty for my needs.
Cheaped out a little and got a 750 Evo, instead of a 850 Evo. Works fine, I think I probably wouldn't have noticed the difference anyway.
Really happy with the ASUS GTX1060 Turbo. I get about 60fps average, on max settings 1080p on Gears4. I love its simple, nondescript look. Matches the black/white theme.
Great case . Well built and a well thought out layout. Building was pretty manageable, considering it was my first time. As expected for a mini ITX case, not much space to work with. Cable management took me lots of time haha.
At first, I got a Cosair CX650M. I really thought I couldn't go wrong with a established brand like Cosair. Super disappointed, and I can't recommend Cosair products anymore. It died after just 30 mins of playing CS:GO. Spent lots of time and effort troubleshooting, and getting it replaced.
Crazily enough, the replacement also died, and I finally had enough with Cosair PSUs. Luckily, I managed to 'upgrade' to a Seasonic PSU instead.
Really satisfied with the Seasonic PSU now. There is some coil whine when the PC is under load/switched on a long time, but really, it isn't very noticeable.
Got this real cheap at a sale. The model i have is actually S2316H. The slim bezel is great. 1080p 60hz is enough for me and my budget , will probably overhaul my monitor and build when 4K goes mainstream.
This was a gift for my 21st, from my best friends. Thanks guys! My first mechanical keyboard- with Cherry MX Blue switches. The clicky sounds are awesome, and it really is a pleasure to type with . Frankly, the switches aren't as noisy as expected- I play in my bedroom so it doesn't matter, but definitely consider a quieter switch if you plan to use it in the office or something.
Ordered this from Amazon during Black Friday. Still waiting for it to arrive! Using a basic Logitech mouse for now
Pretty underwhelmed by the sound quality, to be frank. I own pretty good earpieces, so probably too used to that. The bass is pretty muddy, so if you listen to bass heavy music, don't expect much.
