Description

First build ever, what you guys think?

DOOM on ultra/max = 100+ FPS , didnt see it go down lower the 90! (1600x900)

Mad Max on ultra/max= 60+ FPS, the FPS was fixed at 60 so I don't know what the average was. But it never went lower than 60! and the gameplay was amazingly fast.(1600x900)

CSGO on ultra/max=170+ FPS with max settings in comp, 200-400 in community servers. I was so used to playing on low settings+1080p with only 50-70 fps! (1440x900)

Still downloading Arma 3 + Mods so Ill add it on later :p

Part Reviews

CPU

CPU: I was supposed to get the Pentium G4560 because I was originally going to build a budget pc with a 500 gb SSD. But I honestly thought it was too much money for just storage (500gb Samsung 750 EVO=$160). I was looking for the SSD at a local pc part store and the i5-7500 was on sale for 170$!!! so I decided to sacrifice the SSD for a much better CPU that won't bottle neck my GPU at all.

Motherboard

Motherboard: Simple motherboard that supports the new Kabylake series because I didn't have a Skylake processor to flash a cheaper mobo with.

Memory

Ram: Simple DDR4 8 gb ram, these things were kind of hard to put in, but I guess I didn't know how much pressure you actually needed to stick them in completely.

Storage

HDD: Never had a Seagate HDD fail on me, ever.

Video Card

GPU: This thing is a beast! I got it off of Newegg for $170+DOOM key! I thought it was a steal and it works great!

Case

Case: Such an awesome case, great for cable management, lots of room, and can mount 6 fans!

Power Supply

PSU: Simple 500w PSU, nothing to it.

So I am completely new to pc building. If I were to buy this exact computer exactly how it is shown here. Can I get a mouse and keyboard ad a monitor and just immediately start using it? Or do I have to get other things first. Obviously building it too.

  • 1 point

Yes, make sure its not a VGA monitor unless you have a converter. The GPU I have doesnt have a VGA adapter. It only has a DVI/HDMI and some other ones that I forgot.

How come you r running at 900p

my monitor is 1600x900p native, so i just run it on the highest reso.

My old pc that was complete trash ran LoL on high like it was nothing. This build will probably do max fps tbh lol, but I haven't tested it out yet.

You say that you are struggling with csgo 1080p 50-70 fps. I'm here sitting on a laptop that does 20-30 fps 720p lowest settings

Haha, I feels you bro! Especially when they smoke B halls in DD2 and my fps drops to like 10 lmao!

  • 1 point

Do you tho, when I get smoked, mine drops to 3-5 (intel core m3, integrated graphics 530)

(Im building a pc soon tho)

  • 1 point

Yes on my old build, smokes made my fps drop like crazy! and it makes it goes crazier when people stack smokes. That is kind of the reason why I wanted to build my new pc for more csgo comp and just a better pc in general. But with this pc, I havnt noticed anything lol 150~250 fps on everything high including the filters! And I tried to put it on low and it went up to like 400~600 lol

Ayeeee bro got that same exact MoBo for my build last eeek. How's it treating ya?

  • 2 points

works great man! I/O shield was kind of hard to put together cuz it had parts sticking out but other than that, its a simple mobo! And I like the "Auto install updates" feature they have for the mobo, don't have to keep going back to their site and searching if there are new updates xD

Yeah haha I accidentally broke off 2 of the pins sticking out but it's all good as there are plenty more pins for me to break :P

Btw by any chance, since you already set up your pc, which slots were the dual channel modes? Sorry but don't feel like going through the manual rn.

  • 2 points

If you are talking about which RAM slots to choose for only 2 sticks, then Its 1 and 3. Hope that is what you are talking about xD haha

  • 1 point

Yeah the dual channel memory modes lol

Actually those are not the right ones.

really? I have them in 1 and 3 and I opened up CPU-Z, and it says that I am dual channeling.

Yo, I have no idea how those games compare, but do you have any idea how this thing would run WoW? I know next to nothing about computers but planning to learn and build my own within the next year lol

  • 1 point

WoW is a pretty old game, with this build I think its overkill. You can get away with a g4560 or an i3 and it will preform on all max settings. I know this because I just tried this build in ESO and It runs without a problem, all on max. So basically this build will handle WoW without a problem :)

  • 1 point

Sweet thank you. :D I was totally planning to drop up to a grand just on the computer alone, not including monitor and things so this should save me a ton. My current laptop barely runs wow on lowest settings with 10-25 fps, so this will be fantastic!

Nice! Goodluck man!

So I am actually getting 140+ fps on average on Mad Max without vsync and getting 100+ on Arma 3! Both on ultra settings

  • 1 point

I hope your first upgrade is a new monitor because 900p is the sort of resolution that console peasants have to play at. But I am truly astonished that you managed to build this for only $618, I just built a PC with an 8GB 480 and i5-6500 and it ended up costing more than $700.

  • 1 point

The build is actually around 555$ im still waiting for 50$ Rebates haha, and yeah i was planning to get a better monitor since the one i have is 5 years old!

This is pretty sweet. I'm currently a PS4 owner (peasant I know lmao) I've pretty much always been a console gamer since ever. Lately, I’ve been doing a lot of research on pc building .. reading guides and watching videos. I’m kinda nervous about building a PC myself but at the same time… the more I research, more builds I see, the more motivated I get. This build is around the budget I’m trying to go for ($600-$700 tops). Will definitely come back to this when the time comes. Not ready yet (wallet) lol

Haha! I feel you man! It was my first time too but it was honestly sooooo easy! Goodluck in the future man!

I noticed that you placed "(1600x900)". Is that because that was your screen resolution or did you have to put it on that resolution to get high settings? I already own a 1920x1080 monitor will it still run high settings on 1080?

  • 2 points

It's my native resolution, So I just put it there so it can look nice and not smudged up :)

Very similar to my current build. How'd you get the i5 for 170? I cant seem to find anything less than 183. Gotta stretch every dollar...

There was a sale at a computer shop near my house called "Central Computers"(Bay Area). They had all the 7th generation Intel processors for sale!
