Description

Built this PC for gaming/work in late 2015. Since then, I've:

  • Installed an SSD
  • Added more RAM
  • Upgraded the GPU (R9 380 -> RX 480, only upgraded because a friend sold me his card for a great price)
  • Upgraded the CPU cooler
  • Bought a new case
  • And, of course, added some RGB bling-bling

Though the CPU is starting to struggle with multi-threaded games/tasks, it still runs the games that I play well. The PSU fan also started rattling occasionally a few months ago, and the unit itself may be on its last legs.

Other than those problems, it's been running wonderfully.

Yep. I got another PC from a friend for free, then took one of the ram sticks from it and put it into this PC.

I'd probably get better performance with an even amount of modules, but the extra 4GB does come in handy occasionally.

How are your temps with that cooler? I have it as well but on a 4790k and although my gaming temps are well below 80, idle temps hover around 40-50.

My idle temps usually stay in the low 40's, and gaming temps in the high 60's.
