Description

Going to college finally paid off with a high enough paying job to build my first PC. Will primarily be used for gaming, but also light programming and possibly photo editing. I haven't had a chance to mess around with overclocking yet, but already getting great performance in DOOM.

I wouldn't really overclock this CPU, considering the turbo clock is pretty much the limit that the CPU can handle anyway. Unless you really need that multithreaded performance. Ryzen should definitely be good for whatever you have to throw at it.

Anywho, nice build! +1

Why did you pair a GTX 1080 with a 60Hz monitor?

It's a 1440p monitor

It's more of placeholder until I feel like dishing out $400 for a 1440p 144hz.

Because not everyone has enough money to get a 1440p monitor over 60hz. And it doesn't really matter anyways.

If he plays a lot of indie games he's gonna struggle a little to get a stable 60hz max settings anyways. Poor optimization > computing power.
