Description

Cloud 9.

This thing runs like a dream.

I set out wanting to create a black & white build that was minimal and visually clean. I threw in some RGB bits, such as the ram and board just in case I wanna spice things up. I tore up my old gaming PC and sourced some parts from her. So anything marked as "$0.00" was a part I took out of her cold, lifeless chassis.

There's a few more things I would like to add such as a GPU backplate and 2 more ML140s for intake. Just for constancy sake. Maybe even a RGB strip if i'm feeling adventurous.

Overall, I'm really happy the way she came out! Especially the cable management (oh boy, was that a fun ride...)

Hope you guys enjoy her as much as I do!

How did you get those leds that white? I bought very similar parts hoping to do the same thing and all of the "white" leds turned out to run blueish, purpleish, or something else not white

Yeah, so the z370 prime I have has LEDs built into the back end of the board and I just turned off all the ones except the ones nearest to the power cables via the Aura software. They're not completely white like you were saying. More of a very very light blue, but it gets the job done!

EDIT: Sorry read that wrong! haha. They're not completely white as I said above. The photos just make them look more white than they truly are. They're pretty close to the ML fans, but do wish they were more white..

I was looking at builds with the same parts I have. This one is nearly identical. I have a few questions: How difficult was it to install the cooler? Why do you not have the motherboard lighting up (can it just not light up?)? and why did you decide to go with 10 pro? Thanks! awesome build! +1

Sorry for the late reply! But here's the answers to your questions..

  1. So the cooler isn't that difficult to install. I installed it while the motherboard was already installed in the case. I found it to be easier that way. I also had a friend help me out by holding the back-plate. But overall, a painless experience.

  2. I turned off all of them except 2 that are located near the 24pin. I wanted the subtle glow of the braided cables. You can kinda see the light coming from under the 24pin in some of the photos. The software allows you to turn some areas on and off.

  3. So, I don't have any reason for having Windows 10 pro minus that it was a free upgrade from my old windows and just brought it from my old desktop. Not sure if it boasts better gaming performance or not (doubt it does, but pop a goog if you wanna be sure).

Hope this answers all your questions!

How does that ram hold up? 2400 DDR4 good enough for some streaming and stuff?

It's not bad. It gets the job done. I'd recommend more than 8gb though if you're gonna stream or do any kind of multitasking other than gaming. I'm actually looking at getting new ram currently. Rather a 16gb kit than an 8gb. When I built it I was more under a budget so now i'm slowly upgrading haha.
