Description

This was my first computer I bought! Its a HP Pavilion Media Center m8430 I bought it from a yard sale for $20 and the guy said it just stopped working like the screen is black. (in my head I go.. video card, if it isn't its $20 bucks who cares) so that night I bought a XFX GeForce 8800 video card off of ebay for cheap and low and behold it worked! So it was my light gaming machine running Windows Vista Home. I played Crysis, Batman Arkham Prison, Counter Strike, and many many other Steam Games. Also, this was my family computer to type on, save pictures and videos on etc. It def. was a work horse for me.

So I retired this ol' computer once I built my first custom rig (also posted) and its been sitting for about 3 years collecting dust but finally the day came to Re-boot it! My daughter was asking me to build her a computer so I slapped a bunch of spare parts I had in and installed a new OS and voilla! This Q6600 works like a champ! It's amazing what a new OS can do! Waaay different from Vista.

I am so pleased with this and eventually we are going modify this case cutting out a bunch of stuff, (the big aqua clip looking thing and the bay for a personal media drive. I want to put a closed loop cooling system in and also a maaybe a new mobo. I am so excited to have this thing running again and its running great!

I will update Details soon.

Love those old Q6600's. I'm still running my build from 2008 with one in it and it runs like a champ as a home studio PC.

Q6600 revival club! I retired my Q6600 a bit ago, but it still is known as an overclocking champ and reliable as... as a Toyota Hilux truck.

Nice build, we can probably say it is the best old processor in builds today...

although i'm pretty sure a q6600 can't stand up to being thrown down a flight of stairs, drown in a sea, have a camper-van dropped on it, and be dropped from the top of a building (old top gear reference there).
