Description

This is Challenger's final* stage for 2017, and she is now past her first-year milestone! She sports 2 MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Gaming 8GB graphics cards in SLI, not to be confused with Gaming X or Z. I included the X in the specs because they are of a similar price to the standard Gaming I have installed in my system, and I could not find the standard Gaming cards listed. I primarily do a lot of gaming on her, yes, but I also do a bit of video editing, 3D modeling and animating, as well as rendering, using the vast plethora of the Adobe CC Suite, along with Lightwave 3D v.2015.3. I have the Core i7 5820K overclocked to 4.4GHz from the base 3.3 at all times, at a vCore of 1.275 volts. I ran several RealBench stress tests, and she is rock solid, with temps peaking at 75-76C on an H110i GTX AiO cooler. 32GB (4x8GB) of Corsair Vengeance low-profile 3000MHz DDR4, with a CAS Latency of 15, is what I have chosen to run for her RAM. All of Challenger's components are still utilizing the power from the Corsair RM1000x power supply I had put in her the first time, but the majority of the stock cables have been replaced by the bright red Cablemod custom sleeved cables for a cleaner and more appealing look. When Challenger is powered on, the lighting from the H110i and the GTX 1070s shine in blue to match the CPU sector of the build, and in turn the cables match the GPU sector. I figured I would make it an "All-American" color style.

*Tentative

Nice build, but SLi for 10800.. Why?

The 1070s are what I could afford at the time. I had only one all of 2016, and upgraded her this last May to SLI.

Would made more sense to sell your old 1070 and buy a 1080 Ti. But I hear ya.

That could also possibly happen, but I'm not sure if I'm going to part with them just yet.

Amazing build! Love the theme. What desk are you using?

The desk(s) I am using are an Ikea Bekant lefthand corner, in combination with my old tempered glass desk from Staples.

No, sir. I see what you did there, though. A bit unkind.

I tried to make it not sad.... Apparently, I failed. Sorry!

Sorry that the specs are so mediocre for an elitist such as yourself. I had to put in a lot of work into making this possible for me. I'm proud of what I was able to get. Take your nonconstructive criticism elsewhere if you don't appreciate the lower-end, or "medium" builds.
