Description

I mainly us this for gaming for now but I am planning to go a bit farther with video editing. I have tried 3 operating systems in total being: ubuntu, windows 8.1 preview and windows 7 ultimate (all 64bit). First I tried ubuntu since I din't have money for another os but I couldn't get everything working properly so I continued my search. I decided to try the w8.1 preview for as long as it would work. I liked the OS and it has much potential but needs more work. After seeing some glitches in 1 of my games I had never seen before (wasn't os related apperently) and I wasn't able to find any decent bitcoin miner for W8. So I decided if I could get a trial version of w7, after looking on microsoft for a long time I wasn't able to find 1. Once again my search continued for the last time though. A friend of me had a version of w7 ultimate 64 bit only thing left was to figure out how to install it from usb. A few days later I finally figured it out and I had installed w7 :). For the temps I do not really have a max temp yet only idle so yeah. (will come later if I can add them)

This was the first pc I have build ever and I really enjoyed the experience and process of it and I will surely do it again (always from now if I need a new pc).

Planned Upgrades: 1: install ssd (most likely samsung 840 EVO 120GB) 2:upgrade gpu to amd R9 280X 3: install audio card (most likely creative sound blaster fatal1ty champion) (upgrade fans along the way)

P.S. the case wasn't on the list but I am using a sharkoon tauron red case for bout 80 euro. P.S.s I didn't feel like adding my peripherals since some are not in the lists and I am planning to upgrade all of them in the near future.

This build isnt bad. you definetley could have added a higher end video card if you got a regular wifi adapter instead of that thing there, for the power supply price you could have gotten a corsair hx series power supply, and for the same price, you could have gotten a seagate barracuda 1tb hdd.

I know by know that I could have gotten me some better gear aimed to gaming but I sure wanted to get me a good alround machine to upgrade from my old Packard bell laptop from 2005. I do have a YouTube channel and I do need me some extra throughput for uploading videos in that case the adapter really delivers but next I will need to upgrade my router to an ac router to get max performance. P.S. did I tell the psu has a nice red light fan and very nice and flat modular cables. (the hdd was the cheapest they had in the store only 40euro no way I could get even near 1TB with that money I did not have more money to spend. This drive will end up in m moms laptop when I have better drives)

What case is that?

a sharkoon tauron red (not in this list) a very nice and cheap case (for what you get compared to some other brands) I love the brand sharkoon and I do have some products of them and I will definitely buy some more (their drakonia black mouse and their x-tatic s7 headset are high on my wish list)

Ooh I wouldn't recommend that mouse or headset. For the price of that mouse you could get a Razer Deathadder 2013 which is one of the best mice you can get right now. For the price of that headset you could get a pair of Superlux HD668B's and a modmic which will sound a million times better.

well the deathadder is like twice the price of the drakonia black where I live. And looks do matter I think the drakonia black looks sicks and it does have some very nice features for the price. For the headset I am not sure yet all I know is that it looks good on paper and i am very sure the headset will be good (it has dolby 7.1 audio and 8 speakers in total). Also I am rocking their rush serie headset and it rocks for the price I can wear it for hours and it sounds very good.

Where do you live? Trust me that mouse and headset are very low quality compared to your other options.

I live in Belgium. I do not think they are low quality every sharkoon product I have has a very nice quality and if I go on the site of my store the original drakonia gets on average a full 5 star score and the black edition is just better and an other color. The store itself also greatly prizes all sharkoon products. In short with sharkoon you always get a whole lot of bang for your buck. I do not know if u have tried the products or not but I have tried some of their products and I have no complaints at all.

Oh, thank God! I was in the same route, I don't have money right now for Windows, so I'm using Ubuntu. (I need to buy an OS, my own HDD, and a solid graphics card (running on a GeForce 210, need to upgrade to a GTX 760.)

I First had problems with the booting, it would always come up a black screen, then my resolution for my first monitor was stuck at 800x600 (and it's the same identical monitor as my 2nd), now I don't know how to get my mic working on Skype...

I googled some more and came to a way of getting W7 ultimate 64 bit (daz loader). I did get daz loader and found a iso of w7 ultimate 64 bit only thing left was to figure out how to install it from usb.

You could have done much better than this. Why spend $100 on wireless adapter??

I was able to get the card a bit cheaper and I really thought that price was worth all of it I have some of the best ping when I am playing tf2 and archeblade

Sorry to hate like everyone else, but WHAT THE HELL! You could of gotten a 760 if you got a 1tb barracuda a standard 2 antenna wireless card, and an 8320 (downclocked 8350).

you need to upgrade the GPU to something else, 7950 would work wonders for a budget!

this needs lots of improvments downgrade to a fx-6300 (8 core is useless) if u are video editing with 8 core why do u have a 320gb storage downgrade to windows 7 home or windows 8 home get a better graphics card!

why would I even bother downgrading, only thing left to do is upgrading.

a 7770 in a gaming build? I love your setup but not the 7770.

  • 3 points

I have a 7770 and it's not bad at all. I can run games like Arma 3, Chivalry, and Planetside 2 on the Highest settings :/

innacurate

well I do not know about the other games but I do know that I can play planet side 2 at max with ease.

  • 2 points

Planetside 2 is more CPU based that's why.

I have the same card and cant max it. I even have a better cpu. and to the fool who said planetside 2 is cpu intensive. It is not. I work with various game engines of course not planetsides but happen to know its gpu intensive from testing and talking with devs.

well I can max it with avg of 40fps. But I forgot to tell I only have a 1360x768 pixel screen so if u are on a 1080P HD screen u will indeed get less performance.

  • 2 points

U should have spent less on the wifi adapter and you could have gotten a 670 at least

well I am planning to get me one of amd's new r9 280x cards when they come out. I hope I can get a job by then though

Right there with you. Those cards look sick.

I hope they are available as non reference card by the end of this year. First time I would be able to get me the latest tech very close after the release.

well I have just been testing (read noob getting killed) the bf4 beta and the HD7770 2GB card can run the game on high with avg 40+FPS and on ultra with about 30-33ish FPS. Do note that I use a 1360x768 screen so not at 1080P.
