Description

So this build started when I seen a mother board on a FB sale site for 50.00 OBO, after that I told myself that I would slowly piece together the parts needed to build my dream gaming PC. Being new to all this I tried to do a little research I quickly realized what I bought, and started trying to learn as much as I could. 15 days later I was able to consider the build complete, I loaded windows8 :( and updated all my drivers. The only thing I was missing was a video card, first I went with the PNY GTX 780 but noticed how little the price gap was to try the STRIX 970 so after returning the first card I am completely satisfied with the choices I've made. I do realize that my CPU cooler is stock and that is actually the next item I would like to purchase, please let me know which coolers you would recommend. I was looking at the COOLER MASTER V8 GTS or the CORSAIR H75 due to my case and mother board combined limitations I can only fit a 120mm fan on top.

Where in the hell did you find that MOBO for 50 dollars?! Anyway, great build though you have orange case with red mobo and ram. Go for a tower like a 750d from Corsair.

Ah, I just read your message, use the corsair h100i it is bang for your buck and it works very well.

H100 won't fit. He only has a single 120mm space on the top open.

I had said h100i

I just left out the i. The h100i is a 2x120mm cooler, he only has space for 1x120mm.

i recommend an h60 or even an h80i and also get two 140mm for the front, 1+ for the rog fan controller

Thanks for taking the time to recommend the H60, its very simmilar to the H75 that I am looking at. is there any reason you wouldn't suggest the H75 it comes with 2 fans and a radiator system.

either are fine, the h60 is a newer design though, you can get another fan to make it push pull as well

I'd recommend an H60 - I have the same case and it fits in the top rear exhaust fan slot perfectly.

Yea but the motherboard has a very high profile and the the mPCIe Combo II blocks the top back holes, even if I was to dremmel the fans to fit, the fan/radiator would hang too low and hit the ram. :( so, I still want a water cooled system and the H75 look like a winner with the dual fan configuration. please leave me a comment with your thought about that particular cooling solution or any other that is similar. thank you for your time!

Nice rig for the price. Very lucky to get that board at 50. I would recommend getting an SSD sometime soon. It really makes a difference.

I recommend the cooler master hyper 212 evo for your cooler. I have the same case, except the white version and same CPU. Although this website says the 212 evo won't fit it does with a few mm to spare. I have my cpu overclocked to 4.4GHz and it idles in the low 30's. Prime 95 will sometimes push it in the low 80's after a few hours of stress testing. The h80i is also another good cooler, but is known to be a bit noisy.

wow, very nice to hear that you are getting low temps on basically the same setup. I was looking at the H80i but was really intrigued by the H75 fit and finish, I also noticed that the H75 has a lower price tag. and has a push pull configuration, due to my limited space I am really trying to see what people think of that particular cooler please let me know your thoughts if you get a chance, thanks again!

your temps are a little high. Normally I would expect your asus GPU to run cooler than what's listed. CPU temp is about right with stock cooler. Consider the corsair H80 for cooling that chip. It'll do the job.

The problem I have found with the strix cooler is that at idle or when its not being utilized the fans shut off, so generally that leads to high idle temps.
