Description

Little project I put together to have a tower to use at school. Couldn't be happier with these parts.

Note: Switched the GPU from a Gigabyte WF3 to MSI Twin Frozr III. PSU from CX -> TXM. Mobo from DS3H -> UD3H.

Was the first pic a pic of an old build? Because from what I can see it's using a different gpu, case, psu, and mobo.

Same case, upgraded the other parts due to coil whine issues and wanted a better mobo. Sorry for not making a note about it.

Why did you pick the pro version of Windows 8? i dont get the difference between home premium and pro and ultimate...

I know with Windows 7, it's easier to network. Home lacks some convenient features in that regard.

i think you need pro to use more than 16gb of ram but other than that i am not sure

If you can, rout some of those cables behind the motherboard. Also why did you get such a big power supply?

Pics show two different builds.

I built a new distraction... I mean PC about a month ago with the purpose of some gaming and schoolwork, so far I have done 50% play games and 50% procrastinate on either PCPP, facebook, twitter, youtube, tickld you name it - school work isn't even on the cards!

It looks like you removed the rubber cable management things after the first picture. This looks like the 410 phantom throughout, but did you upgrade your GPU PSU and MOBO? Also great choice on the twin frozr, they tend to be quiet while still handling a pretty heavy load. Great build overall!

Yep. I did exactly that. The first set of parts produced unbearable coil whine while idle and under load. Had to switch them out.

PSU-ception??

Check the description. Same for the GPU.

You don't need that much of a PSU (although if you where going to upgrade in the future than buying this now is a good idea) and you should spend some time on cable management. Also this build is way too overpowered for mere school work (unless you classify gaming as school work)

How's the wireless adapter working out? Also, great build!

Since this is a "school" build, forget FPS, what kind of WPM are you getting?

Nice build overall, the PSU is definitely more than you need but a good idea to future-proof if you decide to give that 7950 a twin.

I hate to do school work on my gaming rig.

I forgot to make a note. I switched out the GPU/PSU due to whining issues and then upgraded the Mobo. Sorry for the confusion. :)

Nice build! I have the same CPU Cooler. I'm sticking to air too!

I think you made the best distraction from school. Awesome build. There ain't no schoolwork gonna get done with this around.
