Description
First for a quick bio- I'm 16 years old from Chicago, I got into PC gaming about a year and half ago on an old laptop, I got a job at a restrauant when I was 15 years old to save up money for this rig. I got most of the parts around Christmas time, many as gifts, with the exception of my second monitor and keboard which I got in late febuary.
As far as uses go, I built this machine primarily for gaming, programming, and 3D modeling. This machine dominates all of those tasks easily, and I feel like I balanced the power on the machine fairly nicely. I gave the machine a fairly modest overclock, I was hesitant to push it to far because I didn't want crashes when I was working on something important, and I wanted to preserve the longevity of the hardware.
I chose the red and black color scheme because those are simply my favorite colors, and I even custom built RGB led lighting into the cabinet where the PC is. I set up my PC the way it is because of space limitations. My desk as a large hutch built onto it, so there is no room to place the PC on my desk, and because of shelves under my desk thee is nowhere to put the PC under as well. Because of that, I removed the shelfing on a bookcase / display case thing I had, drilled some cable management holes in the back, and then hooked it up there. I really like the look that this creates, making my PC a focal point in my bedroom so that if anyone walks in, there eyes are drawn to it so I can show off my work :D ,
The name I came up for this build is frankly pretty stupid.I though lighting cause its "lightning fast" and red because its, well, red. I cannot for the life of me think of a better name so if any of you would kindly suggest better names, that would be great.
Thanks in advance for all of your feedback!
Part Reviews
CPU
This processor does everything I need it to do extremely well. It was very easy to overclock, and I brought it up to a "stable" 4.69 OC. Thermals are great, even at 100% usage it never hits above 70 really.
CPU Cooler
Keeps my OCed 6700k cool at about 60-70 Deg C under load. Looks fantastic as well, in fact I picked out this liquid cooler largely for its looks. I wish it had software to control the lights and fan speed though. Otherwise, solid product.
Storage
Fantastic Drive. I get about 500mb read and write, which allows my OS to boot super fast.
