Description

My son was sporting an AMD Phenom II x4 980 3.7ghz cpu with an Asus mobo and an EVGA 950 GTX.....

It was time for an upgrade for me. I had the 6600k and upgraded to the 6700k and rebuilt this for him in the same case.

This build was done around xmas, I just finally got to cleaning up the wires for him.

PC lover, builder, gamer...etc. I build and upgrade my rigs in the house all the time and friends and coworkers ALL either get a build, rebuild, or upgrade from me...Just love to build. Most of my builds are not mine on this site only 3 of them. The rest are build I have done for others.

I'VE ALSO ADDED A PICTURE OF ALL THE CPU'S I'VE BENCHMARKED ON BUILDS USING 3DMARK 11 PERFORMANCE. ODDLY ENOUGH THE G4560 SCORES BETTER THAN THE I3 6100 AND NOT TOO FAR FROM THE I5 6600K AT STOCK SPEED

Don't you love when people question your part decisions instead of paying respect to a gorgeous build for your son??

+1 from me. I love the case and very nice work with your cable management, there is a lot going on in that case and it looks fantastic!!!

Thank you!! And YES!! the why questions are so ....

Ive been doing this for awhile and try to do my research when making my purchases.

And thank you...I'm a single dad with his kid 100% of the time. I'm sure he'll be ok with 2-4fps loss and an unused pci slot taken up for better wifi lol!!

Right??

Apparently getting 87 fps instead of 90 is just UNTHINKABLE!! HERESY!!

Btw, love your Fallout build :)

Why do people ask Why questions?

I think that all the time... Either they want to act smarter, like you made poor decisions, or they actually want to know for there own knowledge... Most of the time I think it is the first guess, but it always annoys me even on other builds.

because at the time I was upgrading from a 950 gtx to this and was looking for the best price, and w/ 1080p gaming not sure the difference too much

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2016-nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-3gb-vs-6gb-review

"Based on the firm's claims, the three gig GTX 1060 should offer just a five per cent deficit in performance compared to the same product running the fully enabled GP106 processor. Essentially - in practise, you probably won't be able to tell the difference."

Why did you buy a PCE wifi card instead of a USB dongle/adapter?

  • 2 points

why not?? He has more pci slots available than usb... He uses the usb slots for external hdd, camera, keyboard, mouse, amp/guitar equipment, etc...Don't you?

http://www.pcworld.com/article/243226/the_desktop_wireless_adapter_difference_usb_vs_pci.html

"If you can’t wait until then to decide on a USB vs. PCI adapter, I recommend you choose based on what’s most important to you between convenience and raw power. If it’s convenience, go USB. If it’s performance, PCI is probably your best bet."

Please people...do your research before asking pointless questions...

I actually am lame and plug my mouse and keyboard in to the back, and while this article does bring up some interesting points USB is cheaper, and if that isn't your cup of tea then use ethernet...

His pc is downstairs and the modem/router is upstairs in the movieroom. He games online and streams videos a lot and complained so I bought him the best card I could find. I usually use TP-link ones but paid for the best one just in case....also got a wifi extender...excessive I know
