powerful node 202 with great thermals, the build revolved around the node 202, I needed as much power as reasonably possible in the smallest case possible and these were the results

cpu - i7-8700 - 6 cores/12 threads at only 65 tdp I could not believe how efficient cpus had gotten and it matched the cpu coolers recommended tdp perfectly, no need for overclock or extra heat so non k version

cpu cooler - scythe big shuriken 2 rev. b - I had never heard of the brand but after some google searches I chose it because it is widely regarded as being the best cooler to go in this case

mobo - asus rog strix b360-i - great looking mobo with many features, b chipset over the z chipset since I will not be overclocking

ram - corsair vengeance lpx 16gb (2x8gb) ddr4-2400 - highest ram speed supported by mobo was 2666, went with the 2400 to save about $40, had to be low profile as well for cpu cooler so the lpx series is perfect

storage - samsung 970 evo plus 500gb, samsung 860 evo 1tb, seagate firecuda 2tb - a mix of drives, 970 evo plus m.2 for os, 860 evo 1tb 2.5 as a game storage for fast load times and the firecuda hybrid 2tb as a bulk storage for more games and files

video card - nvidia 1080 ti founders edition - bought it used from someone that used to mine crypto on it, he had 12 1080 tis for sale two being the founders edition, went with the founders for the blower style fan to keep the heat out and away from the other components

case - fractal design node 202 - I was drawn to this case because of the limited space my pc could occupy and its minimalist design

power supply - corsair sf600 - needed an sfx power supply and this one fit the bill perfectly

case fan - 2 x fractal design x2 gp-12 - I wanted some fans to aid the gpu and these were available, inexpensive and same brand as case

I am very proud of this build because of all the great components that I got to put in it while saving as much as possible thanks to microcenter's bundle savings and the low price I got on the used 1080 ti

Considering the space constraint inside the Node 202, it's a smart decision to have non-K OC parts. +1

yes and its close enough to the k when it comes to gaming performance

That cooler looks great. There are not many great lookin' low profile coolers nowadays.

Great build! Impeccable cable management considering the tight space!

thank you, the cables were definitey the hardest part, I ran the cpu cable behind the mobo which I was a little hestitant to do at first but theres enough space back there
